June 11-12, 2013

  • Nik-Nak confirmed that the recent Marketplace updates allow non-members to purchase and use rides. However, this change does not affect promotional rides nor in-game-acquired rides, e.g. Slobbersaurus and Skeletal T-Rex.
  • From June 7-9, everything in the Marketplace will be on sale for 50% off! See the Free Realms News article for more details.
  • You can receive a bonus SC 500 , if you redeem a pre-paid Station Cash card purchased from any 7-eleven store. This information was sent out by 7-eleven to their email subscribers. Redeem your cards from June 9th to 15th.

May 28, 2013

  • There are also 3 more dress styles in the Marketplace: FR Item:, FR Item:, and FR Item:.
  • The daily/weekly sale item feature has been changed a bit:

May 21, 2013

  • The Birthday Bash has been removed for another year.
  • The original Wilds Farm is now in the Coin Shop instead of the Marketplace.
  • There is a Lawn Chair ride in the Marketplace. This allows your character to sit down. The chair turns and hops, but unlike normal rides, you can't move in it.
  • All Style Cards are now infinite use! Part of this seems to be that the prices have been raised and they can't be sold or traded any more.
  • There was briefly a Domo Poster in the Marketplace, however, it was quickly removed. No word on whether it was an error or if it will return.
  • All SOE games are having a Summer Kick-Off Sale from May 25th to the 27th. For Free Realms, that means that the parachutes have returned to the Marketplace and they're on sale!
  • Steve "Shock" George has posted his latest Development Update.
  • The VIP Program has been removed from the game. All of the items are still available, you just don't have to worry about a VIP level to be able to purchase them. FR Developer, Nik-Nak, posted this explanation on the official forums:
Part of the marketplace revision showed that it was silly to lock station cash items behind a membership requirement. As an extension to that, it was even more silly to lock SC items behind a long-term membership requirement (the VIP requirements). So in the short term, those extra "locks" have been removed.

As for the long term, we need to take another look at what we can do with the VIP system overall. It had some cool rewards, but there should be more to it than buying Membership and then waiting. Waiting, not surprisingly, is just not a fun mechanic.

Don't get me wrong - rewarding long-time players is a Good Thing (TM), but that reward shouldn't be a new way to spend more money.

May 14, 2013

  • The Hover Ring ride is now in the Marketplace. This is the first in a series of 5 rides that will inter-connect to form a 6th ride. The "connected" ride will be gifted to you, if you purchase all 5 rides of the series.
  • Free Realms has a new Community Manager! His name is Virrago. We would like to welcome him to our world!
    • We would also like to wish Amnerys well, as she moves on to being Co-Community Manager on the EverQuest franchise of games!

May 10, 2013

  • The next installment of A Hero Rises is now available. It's located in Wilds South this time. It has introduced quite a number of new items (armor, weapons, shards, consumables, pet pals, and housing items). This includes an all new level 6 weapon that can be won from a new daily quest.
  • New sticker quests have been added to the Cobblestone Village page of the Hero's Journal.
  • To make up for the problems with last month, this month's member pack was chock full of 719 dark gray marble housing blocks in all different shapes.
  • The Mother's Day Bouquet and Mother's Day Sunflower have returned to the Market. However, the Heart Mom T-Shirt did not.
  • The playgrounds in Seaside and Queensfields have been removed. However, the Pirate Ship with the treasure chest from the former has been moved to the southern cove, and the treasure chest from the latter is now under the bridge in the cave. • Like the 12 Days of Snow Days, do a quest each day to get an egg and its dye for free. If you miss a day, you can still complete the quest, but you'll have to purchase the dye in the Marketplace.
    • There are 4 quests, so 4 egg presents to open on Spring Eggstravaganza Day (March 31st). Plus, if you have dyed all 4 eggs, you'll receive a large Bonus Egg as well.
  • There's been a couple more job changes, as per Nik-Nak: "Ninja: An opponent must have been hit by a Ninja with Dragon's Boon within the last 5 seconds to be a valid target for Dragon's Boon. Warrior: An opponent must have been hit by a Warrior with Counterattack within the last 5 seconds to be a valid target for Counterattack. This was mostly done to combat AFK farming in the overworld, but it also has some dueling repercussions."
  • From March 29th to 31st, there will be a Double SC weekend! Look for Marketplace sales during those 3 days as well.

March 20-21

  • Series 5 of the TCG, Rumbledome, has been introduced. You can watch the webcast for more information.
  • The chat and whisper issues should now be fixed; bugs were squashed in a couple of quests; and the Bandit Hideout has been moved, along with its teleport spot on the Atlas.

If you're unable to do so because someone else took the user name you had on the old forum, please contact the forum Administrator. The old forum will remain open until April 20th, as read only, but then it will be removed.

March 15

  • A new storyline, A Hero Rises, has been added to the game.
    • It introduces a new way to keep track of current and completed quests, the Hero's Journal.
    • Because of the new storyline, the way that all new characters enter the game has been changed.
    • Existing characters can still join in by looking for the Hero Rises ad on the new Welcome Screen, to be teleported to Briarheart.
    • This brings more overworld combat to the Realms, some new quests, and new combat clothing drops from the OWC NPCs.
    • It has also given us a new Hide ability, in case we get caught in the new combat area in a non-combat job.
    • Part of the changes means that Crossroads is now called Cobblestone Village.
    • You can read the news story for more information, including the fact that this is just the first round!
  • Nik-Nak has given us some information on job changes: "Existing players probably didn't notice the changes. And there are many.
      1. 2 more combat jobs are now Free for all players - Medic and Archer join ranks with the Brawler as jobs that can now reach level 20 for all players. That Just Happened. Tell your friends.
      2. New players no longer start with all jobs - You start with Adventurer, Brawler, and Card Duelist. By the end of Cobblestone Village you will have unlocked Miner, Blacksmith, and Chef. From here, the message boards will point players to the different Job Trainers and the start of the Job questlines. This both helped us streamline the new player experience AND let us fulfill a frequent player request.
      3. Some jobs now require level 20 in another job to unlock - In order to unlock Warrior you first need a level 20 Brawler. In order to unlock Ninja you first need a level 20 Archer. In order to unlock Wizard you first need a level 20 Medic. This only affects new players.
      4. Some Archer and Medic gear requires membership - These jobs now works like the Brawler. Level 1, 4, 8, 12, and 16 gear is unchanged, but all other levels are reserved for members only.
      5. Modified Some Job Stats – Increased Warrior's max health at all levels, increased damage of all ninja sword basic attacks, increased all damage of all wizard wand super attacks.
      6. Increased out-of-combat health regeneration rates for ALL combat jobs - It should take less time to heal up after fights if you're not in a fight with something."
  • The Chat Bar has been moved to within the Chat Box. Unfortunately, this has also caused some problems with whispering and clicking on a player's name.
  • The Game Dock has a couple of new buttons, since removal of the Chat Bar freed up some space: Card Game and Hero's Journal.
  • A new Saint Patrick's Day questline has been added! Visit Lucky Chance McXander in Merry Vale and help him find his lucky gold coin. There are 4 quests and they will remain available until March 31st.
