FFXIV Revised Open Beta Testing Dates!Sep 1st, 2010 at 7:32 AM by Vlorsutes

After a brief delay in the launch to address critical bug issues, Square Enix has announced, via their official Final Fantasy XIV Twitter page, the new starting dates for Open Beta Testing. Servers will be running 24 hours a day to allow for round the clock testing by individuals.

The times for the start of each region are as follows:

19:00 (PDT) Wednesday, September 1st
2:00 (GMT) Thursday, September 2nd
11:00 (JST) Thursday, September 2nd

Someting crossed my mind, what if SE just decided they had enough peeps for its open beta test, what if they decided they wont make any more open beta key anymore untill release and just dont tell us,

what if they just let the rest of us go on their website trying foolishly to get a beta key, day after day until release. They could totally do that! argh, crushing my hopes every day a little bit more, until only despair and frustration remains. SE is so evil

As of right now, at least 1 of the servers at capacity. This is comming from someone who is actually playing, tried to get on the server Lindblum is full, and the server Firago is pretty damn close... don't be surprised if you don't play till release...

I tought i might post that since Square Enix Support Center always freeze up

We are currently experiencing technical difficulties where users may not be able to log into the game once the number of connections reaches to a certain number below the intented login limit. The issue is currently being addressed, and new updates will follow as additional information becomes available.

Everyone complaining about the server being too busy...what else can you expect? There's just too many ppl trying to get a beta key right now. It's the same with patches. and it's not limited to SE. Even Blizzard (WoW) has similar congestion on patch days, and server ***** ups. **** happens, deal with it. In this case it's kinda like a DDOS attack, by accident.

I'll be up all night patiently trying to get in.

You goto the beta application site, and reg. if your not, then at the bottom of the page, there is an apply now button, assuming you actually get through, they then send you the code via email.

The site will probably crash soon, it's been impossible to get in there for the last 15 minutes. I'm not holding my breath on getting the code today, or even tomorrow, to all those who got it, I hate you ( awesome for you tho !!)

yet im mentaly prepared for total faillure, i just cant put in my mind that i will play in 10 min, thats just like believing in santa clauss. I build my hope so i can play some time this week so i dont ge so disapointed

laughs would be nice if i can actually freaking update......still have the SAME problems as in closed beta. updater often disconnects, or does not download anything. im behind a firewall and i cant change the ports.. ive never had a more frustrating download/update process for a MMO beta or otherwise however....i will NOT be getting this game at launch or anytime soon unless they change this. They should NOT rely on p2p downloads as that can cause problems for some firewalls they should spend the money on dedicated file servers OR at least upload the dang client to sites like filefront or even fileplanet! whats the point of a beta if half of the people cant play it?

i'd imagine a lot of people are going to be so frustrated they are going to just give up and not even try it...leaving others who could have gotten keys left out!

terrible. at least i got to see the closed beta.. lets just hope i can see the open beta! :-p

If you have comcast there's a good chance they are firewalling your P2P downloads. Most new clients encrypt P2P to make it a non-issue, but FFXIV downloader might now, causing comcast to block it.

(Had the same issue but roomate solved it by doing his magic internet stuff)

I got the e-mail saying to go to the site, download and install the software, and then to go to the website and click the "request your one time beta key" or whatever it said. Now I never found that button yesterday, would it be safe to assume that was because the beta got delayed and that today at 7pm PST/4EST I should be able to find that button/link somewhere?
