A Closer Look at Limsa Lominsa in FFXIV

As you can see on the above map (put together by Japanese fansite FF14-FAN) there is a lot to see and do in just this one starting area.  Over the past weeks, several Japanese gaming sites have been allowed to write about their experiences in the alpha and post pictures, so now we can bring you a collection of shots from around Limsa Lominsa, along with a little information about the city-state.]

Shopping in Limsa Lominsa

↑ Players can visit the shopping arcade to stock up for their adventurers.  Here you can find guild shops fully stocked with weapons, equipment and items.

↑ The Alchemist's Guild provides common items such as Potions, Hi-Potions and Ethers.  In Final Fantasy XIV, these items will stack naturally, which should be a welcome change for melee classes.

↑ This Clothcrating Guild shop carries various clothing such as the Cotton Gown pictured above.  In addition to purchasing a desired item, you can view the requirements to make one yourself, such as materials and rank.

↑ The player here is viewing a Brass Circlet at the Goldsmithing Guild.

↑ The Woodworking Guild shop provides some firepower in the form of an Ash Longbow.

The above pictures show players can look forward to all sorts of new facewear, like masks and glasses.  There sure are a lot of things to browse and drool over in the shopping arcade... let's just hope there are enough ways to make money to buy it all!

I really hope this whole 'long shopping hall' isn't as popular and useful as it sounds otherwise I have nightmares of the Jueno AH where I would spawn, run to the AH, open it, buy something, and respawn again.

All without seeing any characters but my own...

If this is more just a conglomeration by city then that makes more sense than the spread out guilds in different zones in XI that forced some crazy running around sessions.

Anyways as a XI crafter I'm torn to how this will play out...
babe alert

That elezen is hot as hell. Also the NPC vendor gear will most likely just be fluffy, pretty gear with little to no stats, kinda like the armor you could get form vendors in Stormwind in WOW

So will buying gear from NPCs actually be viable in FFXIV?? Otherwise, all that beautiful shopping plaza will be good for is selling useless drops. >.<
