Has anything worthwhile ever come out for the PSP?

Ive always based my PSP purchases on games that dont require use of the RETARDED analog nub. Im a huge fan of god of war, is the PSP version easy to control? Also, Dissidia Final Fantasy... ill have to check that out. does it play like most FF games?

God of War plays just like the PS2 version, both graphically and fluidity of movement. Just a heads up though, you will need to use the nub to move since the D-Pad is used to change/use magic. Disidia is actually like Soul Calibur, but with extremely-simplified button combos. You can level your character in and out of the main storyline and you get combat equip customization like it was an RPG.

You should, it's considered the beginning of the entire storyline.

Lunar.

I only tend to play RPGs and emulators on my PSPs (I have two, one that is "cracked" for emulators and homebrew and the other for retail games)

Monster Hunter!!!!

I use my PSP as an old skool emulator, or a paper weight.

If you like Fighting games, they made a BlazeBlu port for PSP. It is fun when you want to punch stuff.

This thread has now become relevant to my interests. I have jury duty on Wednesday and the letter they sent recommended bringing some form of entertainment to keep myself occupied during the selection phase, so I picked up a PSP the other day. I bought the bundle pack that came with Assassin's Creed and also grabbed God of War to go with it. Haven't really played Assassin's Creed, but God of War is pretty damn impressive. I didn't think they'd be able pull it off in a portable format, but they managed it.

I'm rather interested in getting into the whole homebrew/emulator thing, but not sure where to start. Anyone have any useful links they'd like to share?

Was this any good? I can't imagine another localization team making this story as fun as Working Designs did and I'm sure all the voices are different, so I didn't get it. Ghaleon has to be John Truitt dammit... otherwise it'd be like having someone other than David Hayter play Solid Snake or someone other than Joe Kucan play Kane.

I did play the PS1 versions of Silver Star and Eternal Blue my PSP about a year and a half ago though... so I'd have to say the best thing that's come out for the PSP was the M33 CFW... even if it's not supported and many people have moved on to newer things lol.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! You bought a currently unhackable PSP just like I did! Stupid 6.20 firmware, enjoy going to Gamestop or the PSN store for the next year.

Pandora Battery doesn't work, tested by many people before us. Just Google the results.

I have only played the PSP Lunar up to the end of the White Dragon cave (the very first part of the game) and it seems like it is going well so far.

I haven't played the original Lunar games since they came out new for the Sega CD so many years ago... even though I went ahead and bought the PSX versions just to support Working Designs and crazy old Vic Ireland... then he goes and closes WD down... I can understand why, but I think WD should still release games even if it is through their own online store and stamp out copies one at a time for each order they get... even if it is just for me and the 149 other WD fans.

I haven't checked into this in like 9-10 months, but at the time, if it was a 3000 or a 2000 with one of the last two motherboards they used in those, CFW couldn't be installed without soldering on stuff from older PSPs, and even then it might not work. Unless something's changed in the last year and a half it's probably still the case. I know Datel was selling fake Pandoras that were supposed to work on 3000s, but all they really did was make the LED turn on as if the PSP was trying to boot to Service Mode.

What I'd really like is to upgrade from my 1000 to a 2000 with CFW on it. My PSP slows down a lot on some SNES games and I'm use the extra memory would help, but I don't have the money to do that.

It's a fighting game, so not so much. It is, however, insanely fun and addicting. Seriously, if you like FF and fighting games, go for it. The story is meh, but the gameplay is phenomenal.

I bought this game yesterday, and I agree. Very fun gameplay, laughable story. Im not a big FF gamer so most of the characters ive never heard of. I started story mode with Cecil. What a little girl of a character, especially considering how badass he looks as a dark knight (though yeah he looks like a woman in his paladin form lol). So i put him aside and started on Cloud. So far so good, thanks for the recommendation.

I pretty much just play Disgaea 1 and 2, Monster Hunter, DJ Max Portable 1 and 2 or Emulators for PSX games. Unfortunately the newer model PSPs can't get hacked yet so not much available on the emulator front unless you can flash it. I keep Breath of Fire 3, 4 a couple of the older FF games and a few SNES games (Super Mario RPG much?). Nothing especially good ever comes out in the EU/NA regions except rare game like Disgaea or Monster Hunter, even DJ Max had to be ordered from Japland.

I might be wrong on the hackability of the PSP, just found this link while browsing for a progress update.

If I remember right, Hello World will let you run some homebrew stuff, but it won't let you install CFW. As far as emulation goes, I'm guessing you could probably use it to run console emulators, but I doubt it'd allow you to play UMD images or play non PSN-released PSX games with POPS. I could be wrong though.
