Description

To be able to do this quest, you must have Guests of the Empire AU mission completed.

Talk to Halshaob. He will brief you on the quest he wants you to do. To enter the quest, you will need to trade him 3 Imp. Bronze Pieces. You can only accept this quest once every 24 hours.

Head over to the Dvucca Isle Staging point to enter the assault zone and get ready for quite the fight! You have 30 minutes to complete this quest.

Details you will need to keep in mind:

  • You will fight several waves of Fomors (Rangers, Red Mages, and Monks)
  • The Watcher Imps all cast Ancient Magic.
  • Mobs will aggro the moment you engage them.
  • The boss Imp will pop in and out of the fight and is named Swiftwinged Gekko
  • He also enjoys Sleepga

Defeating Swiftwinged will bring forth a treasure chest, but if you defeat all the waves of enemies in this fight you will get an additional chest for more drops!

Good luck!

best strat for this.. without a ranger..makes it easy..

get 3 blm, some type of puller, a rdm and a strong melee. we went rdm/nin -> puller, rdm/whm healer 3 blm and a monk/nin have an aga 3 order with two blms always going. blm that is up goes first and second one casts just in case. 95% of time first aga 3 will wipe mob or melee can clean up last mob but 2nd one is def needed on like 2 or 3 waves. have melee and puller stay on right side of ship by right set of stairs.. while 3 blms and rdm stay on left corner by left stairs. this eliminates sleepga aga 3 wipe etc which we learned the hard way. after 2 losses and one win but time ran out, with this setup we won easily with over 10 min left. we just let the NM go cuz he depops in like 1 second. Dont forget to go down the stairs on left side and click the door right in front of you as u come down stairs to get credit for the win.

hope this helps cuz i sure wish i had seen this info

I have done this one about 20 times and I am about 4/20 on it [4/5 after I formulated the strategy listed below]. I have noticed that nine times out of ten, I have lost this fight due to stupidity and one member not paying attention or listening to instructions. You need lots of teamwork and awareness in this fight. I cannot stress this enough.

Strategy: PLD/NIN, RNG/NIN [me], BLU/NIN, BLMx2, RDM or WHM [Preferred for Erasega]

Use food before entering the Assault as it will not wear and save a few seconds [Buffs will wear though]. Items with Assault latent effects will work in this [i.e. the ToAU rings], so use them. Upon entering everyone would proceed up to the back of the top deck and buff there. Mages then rest mps while myself and the BLU goes down to the lower deck to kill the 3 mobs which comprise the first wave. One Barrage will kill any mob if this fight [provided you don't whiff it] and two ranged attacks plus a melee swing will kill any single mob as well. After killing those 3 mobs and every additional wave after, ALWAYS run back to the top deck before the next wave spawns or you WILL aggro them and die. The only one who should be aggroing the waves of imps/crew in the fight should be the PLD.

Ashu Crew/Watch Imp Waves:
Starting with the second wave, the PLD aggro's the wave by going 3/4 of the way down the stairs to the bottom deck, casting Flash on one mob and then runs back up to the very rear of the top deck. Once the Mnk and Rdm Crew follow, the PLD proceeds to double back to the stairs, so that the BLM's Thundaga3 hits the Rng mobs, who stop at the top of the stairs and /ra him, as well. The BLU should be using Frypan --> Temporal Shift --> Body Slam, this combination rocks the crew and sets them up for the BLMs to kill all with the Thundaga3. Only one BLM is needed to kill the waves up until the NM pops for the second time, so have one BLM rest and one BLM kill [alternate to save time and mps]. After the second NM pops, the crew will have more hps [up to ~800-900 from ~500-600 before and there will be more of them]. So at that point both BLM should be nuking [preferably at the same time, so that the wave dies at once and one blm does not get pummeled]. As RNG in this fight, I would tell the PLD to pull the wave and after he gets aggro, I would go down and pick off a couple of the Rng mobs or any Watch imps that are casting Ancient Magic on him on the lower deck and then run back up to finish off any mobs who the Thundaga3 did not drop [usually an Imp or 2, if any].

Swiftwinged Gekko:
This guy will spawn after every 3-4 waves. At first he will spawn alone, and if you can take him down in these first 2 pops, you will have a much easier time in this fight. If not, his 3rd or 4th spawn will be amongst a wave of Crew and other Watch Imps. This is very dangerous as he will cast a -ga spell [Bindga, Graviga, Paralyzga, Sleepga], which is seldom resisted and then warp. Pretty much this is a wipe, as the wave will proceed to decimate your party in order of your physical position on the deck. The best way I have found to kill him is to Shadowbind him in place [cannot be resisted, unlike the spell] and then timed Burst2 + EES on him. The RDM can try to gravity him after Shadowbind lands but 2 times out of 3 it will get resisted. A volley of AM2 + EES should drop his hps about 40% or more. The PLD can try to Shield Bash and the BLU could try to Head Butt him to Stun and by some time but normally he moves so fast it near impossible for most to do it in time. Also, more than once [unfortunately] a few of the BLU's felt that they should melee the NM after I hit Shadowbind [one even proceeded to cast Blastbomb on the NM for 68dmg] and broke the bind freeing the NM to flee away unscathed. Don't be an idiot like them. Don't break the Shadowbind before the BLMs have a chance to nuke it.

Note: The one and only time that I have beat the fight, along with killing the NM, we got 2 chests to pop. The second chest contained a ???Dagger, which appraised to a Matron's Knife.
