Description

Requirements: Completion of Tango with a Tracker & wait until next conquest tally

Waiting at least until the next conquest tally, Despachiaire will give you another letter of challenge, this time from Shikaree Y. Again, go to Boneyard Gully where you will fight another uncapped 6-man BC, but this time versus Shikaree X, Y, and Z as well as Y's Rabbit and Z's Wyvern. This fight is very similar to the mission BC, except that they are easily slept - the pets I am not sure about, but they are weak anyway. Be warned that Shikaree Z, being part PLD, will immediately begin buffing herself and her sisters with Protect/Shell as soon as you enter the BC. Shikaree X will use Ninjutsu, Shikaree Y will use DRK nukes, and Shikaree Z will also use Cure spells. Like the mission BC, they have massive TP regen and will perform skillchains with each other (Wheeling Thrust > Shark Bite etc.). The rabbit also has a self-healing TP move. However, like the Tango BC their actual HP is very low (~5000).

Upon defeating them, an Armory Crate will appear. Opening it will reveal ENM-type drops (we got Viridian Urushi -_-) and grant a new title "Disciple of Justice". This quest is repeatable every conquest tally - talk to Despachiaire to receive a new letter.

Having recently obtained my X's Knife, I felt it would be helpful for me to share my experiences with this battle, as there isn't a lot of helpful information available (at least not that I could find).

Before you read any further, make sure you are familiar with the pre-requisites for beginning this quest. Just understand that if Tango with A Tracker gave you troubles, you should re-think your strategy for this fight, because they're more or less the same thing, just with more targets to take down. Going into this quest, I expected it to be difficult and so made sure that I had the exact setup I wanted, and that everyone was briefed on what needed to happen. My ideal setup consisted of:

PLD/WAR
THF/NIN
DD Who can make a Light SC with the THF/NIN
BLM/WHM
RDM/BLM
WHM/BLM

Initially, the DD was a WAR/NIN, but this was later replaced by a SAM/WAR. The WHM can also go /SMN. The strategy we used was fairly straightforward. We would buff and build tp outside the battlefield. After entering and getting into positions, the RDM would ES/Sleepga. This will sleep the mithras, but not the pets. The RDM then has the task of kiting the wyvern and the rabbit. The PLD vokes the DRG and the THF and DD unleash their SC with the BLM MBing. This will take out most of the DRG's life, if not kill it outright. Once the DRG dies, we focused on the DRK. Most of the time, before the SC even has time to go off, the DRK and BST will wake up. It is imperative that the BLM use ES/Sleepga2 before they wake up so the RDM doesn't have to try gathering or kiting all 4 mobs. Typically, the DRK takes longer to kill than the DRG, which means the PLD will need to get hate on the BST as well (which isn't much of an issue once they start SCing, because it will be on the PLD anyway), and hold out long enough for the THF, DD, and BLM to take down the DRK. The BST by herself isn't particularly dangerous and goes down soon enough, and provided nothing unfortunate happened to the RDM, you can move on to the wyvern, and finally the rabbit. In a smooth fight that goes according to plan, the only person who ever takes much of any damage is the PLD, and the only dangerous part of the fight is after the DRG dies, you're working on the DRK, and the BST comes back to start doing SCs with her sister. We never used a single Muddy Siredon in our attempts. We did lose once, which was due primarily to our BLM forgetting he was second in the ES/Sleepga order, and he burned his ES at the same time as the RDM, causing the later Sleepga to fail and the mithras to run amok.

In the fight that netted me my X's Knife, our SAM got disconnected upon entry without us realizing it, I then disconnected everyone in the party but me (with Aura Steal before they fixed it), we wiped twice (because of that mass d/c), and we won with only 6 seconds to spare. It was our fourth attempt, and third win. Yes, you can get an empty Armory Crate. Yeah, it sucks. The reward at the end of the tunnel is very worth it, so hang in there!

*cough* ********** *cough*. You will only get sleep to stick with ES+Sleepga II

Adjust the resolution of menus.
The main screen resolution for "FINAL FANTASY XI" is dependent on the "Overlay Graphics Resolution" setting.
If the Overlay Graphics Resolution is set higher than the Menu Resolution, menus will be automatically resized.

This ENM can also drop Y's Scythe and Z's Trident. Those weapons are not nearly as amazing as X's Knife, but it should be noted.
