Prologue

You stand with the San d'Orian troops on a frozen bluff in Beaucedine Glacier.
Louvairausse: Scout reporting, sir!
Louvairausse: The enemy procession approaches from the direction of Tavnazia.
Louvairausse: Their advance guard is LFKDS
Vestillet: Good work, soldier. As intelligence reports suggested, their intent is to merge with the main beastmen force stationed in Castle Zvahl via Beaucedine and Xarcabard.
Noillurie: Then our objective remains unchanged: the annihilation of the enemy force, and failing that, the obstruction of their advance.
Vestillet: Let us review the strategy. The Madder Falcons will stand in wait for the enemy procession and engage them head on.
Noillurie: Immediately after which, the Red Roses will strike from the rear and seal off their retreat.
Vestillet: Our two units will cripple the enemy in one swift blow. Is that clear?
Noillurie: Shogyo Mujo Zesho Meppo... Shometsu Metsui Jakumetsu Iraku...
Noillurie: It is time.
Louvairausse: Sir! The enemy -- they come!
The procession of orcs comes walking up the path in front of the awaiting troops.
Noillurie: Knights of the Red Rose, ready your arms!
Vestillet: Knights of the Madder Falcon, to positions!
Vestillet: Crossbow.llkfsklfd
Vestillet: Glory to San d'Oria!!!
The knights on chocobo rush forward as arrows are unleashed at the orcs. Battle ensues, with losses on each side.
Cait Sith Naoi: Eeek! Th-the overpowering stench of blood and steel... Such savagery! Such barbarism! We must find the two girls while the battle rages. The combatants distracted. But... where could they have been taken?
Portia and Lilisette are walking with Larzos in a cave...
Lilisette: ....?
Larzos: Looks like the situation's heatin' up on the glacier.
Portia: ...
Lilisette: What are you planning to do with us?
Cait Sith Ceithir: Nyahaha, the two of you will serve us as bait. As a plump carrot is dangled before a chocobo's nose, so too will you be flaunted before our prey. Lure in our quarry.
Lilisette: ...
Portia: Um... Is it true what that woman said?
Portia: That Sir Ragelise can be... saved?
Larzos: It's just as the lady said. Why do you ask? Had a change of heart, have we?
Portia: ...
Larzos: Hah, the things we do for love... I must confess to bein' a right sucker for this kinda thing. I might not look it, but I'm an incurable romantic myself.
Back on the Glacier's surface...
Cait Sith Naoi: Lilisette and Portia! Where was that place, I wonder...
Cait Sith Naoi: That the clangor of battle could be heard -- felt, even -- means they can't be far away. Someplace close. The scenery was that of a sprawling cavern. A subterranean location.
Cait Sith Seachd: Naoi! Do you read me, Naoi? I've stumbled upon a conspicuous cave opening not a stone's throw away from where we passed by earlier.
Cait Sith Seachd: Could it be that it leads underground? An entrance to the caverns?
Cait Sith Naoi: I read you, Seachd! Loud and clear!
Cait Sith Naoi: (PLAYERNAME! I dare say we've narrowed down the girls' location! Their whereabouts!)
Vestillet: Will you go and search for the two Troupe Mayakov girls? Understood.
Vestillet: The enemy, my knights and I will keep at bay. I leave the rest in your hands. The Goddess keep you!
Cait Sith Naoi: Lilisette and Portia are being held captive underground. Deprived of liberty. Seachd has tipped us off to a likely entrance. Oh, before it slips my mind -- in case I forget -- you might find this useful.
Cait Sith Naoi: An aroma bug!
Cait Sith Naoi: While the aroma bug's scent permeates, even the pitch blackness of the caverns won't be able to separate us. Can't wander astray. But be forewarned! The scent lasts only for a limited duration, and then fades away. Becomes odorless.
Cait Sith Naoi: Should you require another, I've a stash stowed away at the southern tower here in the glacier. Hidden from prying eyes. Now then! We go and rescue some dancers!
