Swiftcast and other CDs not giving effects.Follow

I'm sure it has been discussed before, but I figured I would ask a larger audience since shouting doesn't seem to provide any input.

After discussing it with several BLMS and and Healers along with being a healer myself, consensus is that there are times when Swiftcast will activate, deactivate, but not actually cast your spell. I know that for raising this issue can sometimes be attributed to the targeting mechanics, but there or other times where it simply doesn't go off. My girlfriend has also had this issue with Benediction. She would hit it and the effect simply would not happen, even beyond the 1-2 second BS delay on important, clutch, life-saving abilities (Hallowed Ground as well) and go on CD.

I bring this up though because i just logged on a bit ago and started fiddling around with a lowbie ARC. I slapped Blood For Blood and Internal Release onto my CC abilities and put them together with Raging Strikes on a macro like I have with my other classes. Well I went to pop my CDs and hit the button and noticed that Raging Strikes and BLood for Blood both went on CD but i only got the effect of Blood for Blood. The same thing happened when I had B4B and IR available, only B4B activated while both went on CD.

Is this a recent thing, since there was a patch a day or two ago, or is this a usual occurrence for ARC? I've never had this issue before with any other Job or Buff macro. Hell, I've used the same buff macro for PUG and LNC without issue.

I have a swiftcast raise macro and was having lots of trouble with it during FATEs the other day. I had assumed it was due to lag during the FATE, but what you're describing is exactly what happened to me. I saw the "Swiftcast +" scroll across, Raise did NOT fire, then I see "Swiftcast -" scroll across almost immediately after. It was so fast that I didn't get a chance to see if the icon popped up top next to Cleric Stance, Protect, etc.

Yeah that's usually the extent of what I see when that happens. At first i thought it was because I wouldn't have the person "hard targeted" and after swiftcast was activated it would switch targeting back to the tank. HOwever when this happens, Swiftcast usually stays active on my character until I cast something. So i can go back to the person and target them again and swift raise.

I just hope this isn't another "working as intended" thing XD.

I haven't had this happen myself on my BLM, but I've got some free time tonight to try to see if I can pin down the behavior. It could be latency bound, or something that recently happened with the maintenance. If I find out anything, I'll check back in.

I use Swiftcast + Flare rotationally, so if it happens I'll notice. I also fit in free Firestarter procs on the back of fire 1 casts, most likely due to the delay between when computation/effect actually happens and when it's displayed for us, and my assumption here is they tried to fix the clash to disallow the BLM "cheat" and broke other macro'd abilities, but that's solely based on me having far more issues getting that free Fire III out. I'll see if I can come up with anything.

I have had this same problem on SMN with Aetherflow, you use the ability, the cooldown starts, but you get ZERO charges, extremely annoying. Seems to happen in laggy fights the most, like Behemoth.

Do you have a /wait command inbetween Swiftcast and the spell you want to use?

The reason I ask is my BRD macro's are like this (for e.g.):

/macroicon "Heavy Shot"
/ac "Bloodletter"
/ac "Mercy Stroke"
/ac "Heavy Shot"

This means that the macro will first look for Bloodletter being off cooldown, the Mercy Stroke and finally Heavy Shot, but if Bloodletter proc's then I have to hit the icon again to proc Mercy Stroke or Heavy Shot.

There's a bug right now, any ability that's on a Global Cooldown is having issues with lag and not working... Dragoon's are not able to use Invigorate for instance, you pop the ability and the GCD starts counting down as if you used it, but you don't get the effects from the ability... hopefully the dev team is already working on it, I saw a couple of bug reports between Reddit and the main forum talking about this issue.

You will not be affected by lag interrupting your spells in your macro if you add a "/wait 2" command in between casts. It sounds like you plugged two or three spells to enter into queue at the same time, which may work in a non lag setting, but you may get some interrupts in times where server demand is high. Mandatory wait times in the macro should eliminate your issue. I run the following on blm with no problem. All spells function.

/macroicon "Flare"
/action "Swiftcast" <me>
/wait 2
/action "Flare" <t>
/wait 2
/action "Convert" <me>

I can't say for sure, but I suspect those six snow moose he put a hit on are camping him.

I also notice this, some Instants just don't take.

On a similar note, I'm frustrated that my abilities have to be off cooldown for Cleric Stance to turn on/off.

This makes me cast some spells in the wrong stance or even not notice it didn't take. Now that I know this, I have to constantly make sure that it toggled, which is costing me a half second for every switch.

Is this maybe in the same category as other instants which are not being activated properly?
