As this is a level 28 dungeon, should I enter it as a bard rather than an archer? I read that it needs some fast dps at the end, so presumably an archer would be preferable?

Personal opinion: it doesn't really matter.

It shouldn't really matter, if you're on the ball you can switch the lanterns off quickly enough during the boss fight. It's quite a straightforward fight.

Going through it I'd be careful, it's easy to aggro too many adds in this dungeon if your tank is too eager. All in all, it's a fun dungeon though.

Can't change classes or jobs while in a duty finder dungeon.

Found out it applies to jobs too when I wanted to swap down to pugilist to cast Raise on someone.

Personally, I liked having the additional cross-class abilities like Mercy Stroke from Marauder which you'd lose by going Bard, and the one Bard-only ability you'd have, Mage Ballad, is completely unnecessary in this place. I'd stick with Archer until at least Brayflox.

Before you worry about it from a damage perspective, I'd suggest watching a video of the final fight on youtube. The fight is very similar to some WoW fights, but success on the boss relies heavily on the tank positioning the boss correctly. My suggestion is to make sure your tank keeps his back to the perimeter wall. This will keep most of the acid the boss spits out along the wall away from the party. It's important the boss does not touch the acid, as it will heal him, and it will hurt you guys if you stand in it.

Overall, either job is fine to use. Just make sure everyone knows the fight.

The boss uses two moves called Void Fire and Void Thunder - both of these can be avoided if your tank runs through the boss and gets behind her. I didn't figure this out until level 50 but it's really helped me tank her.
