waiting time for dungeonsFollow

Hi
I am a noob, just started few days ago.
I am a lancer now lvl 20; I am doing the first dungeons.
Just for curiosity but is it normal that I have to wait for so long time (I say more than 1 or 2 hours) to join a party for a dungeon ??
Is there some trick to speed this process ... I normally go in other places to do something else (just for levelling a little more) but as I can play just one or two hours about per evening often happens that I am not able to do the next dungeon.
thank for help

If you join a Free Company you will (hopefully) find people who will help out with the dungeons. I'm still working my way through the main story (slowly...there's so much else to do!) and my LS have been really helpful. Duty Finder is great if you're online at a quiet time and you've got loads of time to play but a group of friends can get through the content much more quickly! It also helps fill those Tank and Healer slots which really speeds the whole process up!

Also, if you level a tank or healing class you should find that the Duty Finder is a lot faster.

Hope that helps a bit!

I've only ever waited longer than an hour for one fight on DF (Ifrit), and I was on Pugilist so it wasn't one of the two coveted roles (Tank and Healer). I never let it bother me though (and this was before the DF server upgrade), I'd generally go and grind or join a Fate or do some side quests and before I realised I'd get picked by the DF.

The only other thing I've done is talk to people waiting in Duty at the node to see if I can blag a spot in party.

using the DF (duty finder) as a DPS (Damage per second) class like LNC will cause you to wait a decent amount of time only because there are more DPS classes then any other class (TANK or HEALER) using the DF. There is really no trick to speed it up. Once you DF up, you might as well go find something else to do while you wait. Just a FYI too, once you duty up as a LNC, you can change your job/class to something else while you wait, you just have to change back to LNC before you can accept an invite.

Pro-tip to help with Q times (the seem long to every class, I had to wait like 20min last night as a healer :3):
1) Make sure all the lingo buttons are high lighted (click them). This apparently is a real thing, and the more lingo options you pick to q up with the bigger your pool gets.
2) There is a little box near the top of the Duty List, says something like "Join a Duty already going on", click that. It is you agreeing to join maybe not a fresh duty (bazinga!) and one already in the process.

yes I have tried to highlight all the buttons but always happen that I join a dungeon I already did ... I want to do the new one so .... I have just to wait so long ... or is it possible for a "new " dungeon (to progress in the main story) also to "join in progress" ?Smiley: oyvey

Queueing up all selections to speed up the process is not a "pro tip," it's pro assery, nor does it speed up the time for a specific dungeon. Ever wonder why you queue and once the box pops up, someone declines right away? It's the people queueing all selections, declining the one you were excited about so they can wait for the randomizer to pop the one they want; meanwhile, shattering the dreams of that other dps that was waiting for his/her instance, that you just declined.

Unfortunately, dps have a longer wait time. As others said, queue as healer or tank and you will pop instances very quickly. Even so, you still have a chance at rolling on dps gear for your dps class as long as the other dps doesn't need that piece.

As tank I usually get a dungeon as soon as I register. I sort of knew this would happen, so decided to level tank first. It's worked exactly as I wanted it to, run so many dungeons, I have full sets of DOW gear for the other jobs I want to level later. Actually leveling and getting the xp will be the challenge though.

Click all the language buttons. Don't click all the dungeons.

Uncheck any dungeon you've already done that you don't want to do again. The Duty Finder is not psychic - if it sees you've checked all the dungeons, it assumes you'll be happy doing any of those dungeons.

Your best bet is to join a social FC that will help you with the dungeons while you level. The current problem is that after everyone has finished their first class to level 50, they are doing FATEs to level the other classes and not the dungeons. The people that is doing the low level dungeons are people that is leveling the main story quest for the first time and that is why the long wait. The funny part is that there is so many people doing the FATE party thing that actually it backfire and you get more XP in dungeons that in FATE.

It used to take forever to get into AK, even if you had a full party together and queued you would still be waiting 30 minutes to enter. It has become significantly better since the times before and just after the df fix.

Have the average wait times started populating yet? every time I went into the DF they never showed up, I felt it was pretty silly to have them there if they weren't going to actually populate the information....

Either be a tank or healer or wait queue like the rest of the 80%-90% population of DPS. I'd go with a Tank class/job such as MRD/WAR if you want to speed things up since you probably like to melee. But if you like LNC, you can craft or gather while you wait in queue it helps to pass time.

While I agree that queue times are really long and frustrating please don't do this! Those buttons are for "these are the languages I can speak" not "the more you tick the faster your queues".

Nothing is more frustrating than partying with someone who is not catching onto a boss fight mechanic and costing the team a victory, and doesn't understand the language of the other three desperately trying to explain what they're doing wrong!

If you join a free company you can go into duty finder with your own group is this true? My Arcanist is lv47 and close to solo clearing every zone random quest and fates that's not connected to the grand company or main story line. He get lots of anonymous free company invites every night. If this is true I can at least try the first dungeon before I start on DoL achievements. SE said game info would be on their site mid September i'm giving them till October before I go back there, so confirmation that this is true will be appreciated.

Silly Kordain, people don't talk in dungeons!

Yea I can't say I've had groups that say more than hello, and then thank you and goodbye at the end.

I speak only English, and I've had 0 issue communicating with non-English speaking people inside duties. This game is not region and language locked, so why would you limit yourself to just one group? Best thing about FFXI was meeting and playing a game with people across the globe, and the tool that made it happen just happens to be in this game as well.

If you register as a LNC and then switch to a crafting/gathering job, won't it unregister you or something since you won't have the correct job for the dungeon?

No, but you'll have to switch back to LNC to accept the queue.

The longest its taken me was around 45min.

On average it takes me about 15-30 mins as a DD.

When I was on my tank in P3 it would take 1-2mins.

----

When I run the early dungeons like Satasha on my lower level DD classes I choose all of the other languages (because I know what to do) and its a bit faster.

To the OP: if you did not know, many new players do not, you can save and hot bar your class gear sets so when you do queue, it's a quick button press to swap out jobs while you wait, and easily swap back when the queue box pops up.

Wben I queue up my Dragoon, I just let it run while I lvl another job, or some fishing or crafting. When the queue box pops, I'm often startled because I get engrossed in the activity I was currently doing, and often times forget I even queued. Sometimes I wait 20 min, other times, 40'ish minutes. Sometimes I'll queue, go do something else, and then log out, forgetting that I ever queued! Point being, there is always something else to do while you wait. You should never just stand around "waiting" for the queue to pop.

I've had bad luck using the 'join party in progress' option. Usually end up with poor groups where people quit because they kept wiping.

This. This. And more this.

My DPS queues, regardless of level (but especially at 50), are never more than 15 minutes with "Join Party in Progress" checked. Most of the times, it's a salvageable party, too. For instance, everyone had left on AK at Demon Wall. I join and a few others join and we get a partially done instance! It's great.
