I think I'm being really stupid, but I cannot work out how to split chat logs in the HUD. Ideally I'd like one for Linkshell and Free Company chat and a second for everything else, I know it can't be done, I just can't work out how?
Anyone know if there is a HUD for dummies site anywhere?

So do you want to take your original chat log's tabs and make them separate windows?
If that is your question, the answer isn't in the HUD configuration. You can grab a box and pull it off your main chat log. I think it allows you to create one more box too. Rename, configure what you want displayed, etc in the ESC menu for chat settings.
If your question is about creating a new box besides the additional one they give you, I'd like to know too. :)

Excellent, that explains why I felt such a dummy looking in the HUD editor for it. Can you only have 2 boxes max then?

The main chat box is broken into 3 sections that you can pull apart and have 3 chat windows anywhere on the screen you prefer. You can add an additional one to the group for 4 total.

I'm curious, how do you get it to work (in terms of screen real estate), without the boxes being so small they are no longer useful? Are you on a resolution higher than 1080p?
1920x1080 is my screen resolution.
The Shout box takes up part of the Party list space, but I can just move the list somewhere else.
And my boxes are slightly longer in length.
