Hi all long time reader and visitor to the site just never made an account.

Anyways wanted to get some input on something from everyone. I have an unused 10k Raptor WD 300gb Harddrive in my computer. As far as I can tell It looks like a laptop harddrive with this ice pack cooler attached to it. Basically what I was wondering If I was to use said HD in my PS3 for Final Fantasy XIV without the icepack cooler obviously-- if heat would be an issue. Or if maybe it would be ok I only use my PS3 for Final Fantasy XIV and Netflix.

Any input is much appreciated and thanks in advance.

(Graciously awaiting to finally start playing tomorrow night)

peace.

If it's a 3.5" HD, it won't fit.

Sorry, googled it, but didn't look close at the heat sink. IDK, that thing might get pretty hot. You might try it and keep track of the temp. I'd probably spend $60 and get one form Newegg.

Youll see a fractional decrease in load times and nothing more from using it...that is if you are able to use it at all. IMO not even worth the effort to put it in. Plus those things are loud as hell.

Ok thanks for the replies ! just wanted some input cause I have been known to do crazy things. lol.
My other option is a 120gb SSD my computers main drive but I don't think it would be worth the hassle of having to reformat my computer and ps3 both.
So thanks guys ill leave it be. !
