No social Lists (FC, FL etc..) and Chat during DutyFollow

#1 Sep 03 2013 at 11:29 AM Rating: Decent
Is this working as intended? I can't text or tell my friends, can't see my FC and Friendslist. Is this how it works?

Yea you can't. You can talk to your FC and LS but you can't see the list nor you can use /tell when you are in a dungeon. It has to do with the fact that the dungeons are hosted in a different server I believe.

I cant talk to my FC. My UI simply says, that I have no FC, meaning the Button is greyed out. And no tells to friends etc. is just stupid and ruining some sense of an MMO.

Yoshida said it's on purpose so you focus or something. The functionality is there, they just currently have it disabled.

Focus...pff....should enable it soon....beeing on Duty and not able to chat with my Free Company...nonsense in my eyes :/ Infact we sit in Teamspeak, but I should have the possibility to chat and write whenever I want to...looking forward to Yoshida changing his mind about tha :/

I haven't had any problems chatting in /fc during a dungeon.

Yeah...I can chat with my FC and LSes just fine while in a duty.

Tells are strictly prohibited though. And it has nothing to do with instances being on another server (because basically all MMOs do that), it's because Yoshi doesn't want people trash talking in tells. No, really.. he said that.

You can't send or receive tells in a duty, because some people will use them to be mean.

There is something wrong here. You should be able to write at your FC. I do it all the time. Especially if I am in a dungeon with one of the guys from the FC.

Hm havent tried talking, infact my FC Button cant be clicked. Chat could work, but the FC Button does definitely not. Strange...

Have you tried just typing with /fc to see if you are chatting in the free company chat?

It depends on how you entered the Duty:

If you are alone and queued then you might get in a group on another server. If you do then you are in "Another World" literally and can't communicate back. BUT, if you make a full party on your server then you are for sure going to group on your server and you can probably communicate. If you have a mostly full party chances are the code will put you on the home server of the most players in the party.

This is mostly my guess based on trying dungeons both with and without my FC members.

That's silly. I often use tells when I see people doing something wrong, but I don't want to call them out in front of everyone. I feel like it is the more polite option than embarrassing them. I'd also much rather someone sent me a tell about how I could improve my performance than lecture me in front of others.

Usually I've noticed that people just rage on someone right in party chat without bothering with tells anyway. It certainly happened all the time in WoW, and it happened yesterday when I was in a Cutter's Cry group. Poor tank ended up leaving because of harassment over his lack of enmity proficiency.

I agree. SE does not.

Hahaha! I like the guy, and I generally believe most of his excuses. This one however, is complete and utter malarky. SE really needs to talk to some other developers, maybe Trion and Bizzard, to get some help with their ancient server technology. I'm not being mean. It's going to be necessary to have a fully polished game without silly restrictions like this.

If it's not a technological issue, it needs to be lifted. I need to be able to communicate with people in /tell while I'm in an instance.

Duty finder does not put you in anyone's server it moves you in a whole different server for instances if I am not mistaken.

Again if you re in there you can't see your ls or fc but you can talk to them with no problem. I have done a lot of instances to know that.

Tell would be great if we had it. But they said cause the dungeons are hosted in a different server they can't put it. Annoying really because if I have an fc member with me in the run I want to use /tell with him for some things. Instead I am forced to use the /fc chat (besides the party chat of course).

I'm hoping they will remove the restriction later in the game. Duty groups are horribly dull. I swear I get stuck with a bunch of pissy pants every single time.

I don't think that they don't agree. I think that they just feel people will abuse it more than use it constructively. If you don't want to deal with an unwelcome guest, sometimes you must lock the good guys out too, lest the riff raff slip in with them.
