ok so, say, i wanna level mining to 50, how much ores would i get? do you guys think that the amount of ores i mined would be sufficient to bring my smithing and/or goldsmithing to a respectable level?
No, you will need thousands just in Iron Ore alone. Iron ore is used not only in Arm/GSM/BSM but it is also used to make steel which is the next level after Iron.

You should be able to level the smithing crafts just fine if you're mining. I went from 20 to 30 on both blacksmith and armorsmith with about 15 stacks of iron ore and 3 stacks of bomb ash and the same with goldsmith with the 10 stacks of silver ore and raw stones. All but 6 stacks of iron ore i got while I was just grinding out levels on mining. You will have to go on gathering runs from time to time but so far for me it hasn't been bad.

I'm currently miner 31 and Armorer/Blacksmith early 20.
It's my opinion that leveling miner without leve will net you enough material to level 1 craft without issue easily if you plan ahead and mine the right material. I might have enough for 2 craft if you get material at your level only or below while gathering (slower leveling in miner but more material return)
Also, if you want to work in your achievement at the same time (Mining your own business) it will cause issue as well as you might need to mine 1000 time in a zone that yield no material for your craft.
