It depends on your personal preference. You could level CNJ up through Halatali to give you an idea if you really enjoy healing; although, the first three dungeons you can get away with being lazy with the heals. To me, the excitement of healing is largely dependent on the group. If the tank is under-geared or the dps refuse to get out of the fire, you'll be in for a lively run. On the other hand, you'll get groups where everyone is over-geared and knows exactly what to do and you'll have an easy (boring) time.

I don't mind it, but being an Archanist is fun as hell while healing. Using Carby to crowd control and tank better than all the low-level tanks while spamming heals everywhere is just fun.

Try the level 47 dungeon Aurum Vale as a healer, I'm pretty sure our healer had a lot of fun, eating fruits and keeping us alive while everyone ran around fighting for fruits lol

I love healing. Give it a shot, at least through the first couple dungeons.

You know what's better then anything though? No wait time for dungeons. That's made healing that much more appealing to me.

I enjoy it. It can get a little hectic sometimes (Anyone that has done story quests all the way through can attest to that...) but overall, pretty cool.

Healing is great. It is fun BECAUSE of all the noob tanks and DD. I personally like crazy fights where everyone has a mob on them..

Way better than DD if you ask me. DD is just spam damage skills.

I am personally a great fan of le heals.

Though I heal as an ACN because I like having options. Like the option to let a rabid glowing squirrel chew some kobolds nuts off while I stand far away and pretend not to watch.

I have both WHM and BLM leveled and first of all I think BLM is a lot better now than it was in 1.0, but I guess it isn't everyones cup of tea. WHM is also fun because I prefer healing overall, but I have to be honest I've had much more fun healing as a SCH (Got it to 50 a couple of days ago) so it is all a matter of preference, but if you enjoy healing I would say yes this game has fun healing for sure :)

If you can do a good job, it sure makes getting through the story easier.

Healing can be very self rewarding but it may not be everyone's favorite role to play while on a team. I wouldn't let PUG groups color your opinion on the class. Sometimes you get a decent tank and the healing task is smooth. Othertimes you'll find yourself spamming you heals non-stop and you find yourself out of mana very quickly. During my very first encounter with a terrible PUG tank, I found myself being forced to spam Cure-2 non-stop until I was almost out of mana and this was with the very first trash encounter. I bowed out.

You don't start feeling the healing till around Vigil Stone. Every dungeon before that just feels to easy to heal. So don't get discouraged Vigil Stone isn't till 41.

yes healing is awesome, because you are constantly on the watch and constantly have smth to do. whm gets very neat utility abilities like sleep and knockback+bind and scholar has a very interesting mechanics. tbh, i always loved blm, but i think it will be the 2nd last class i level (besides pug) because apart from burst damage and basic sleep duties, blm in ff14 doesnt do all that much :(

Watching a scholar today in Vigil and Vale...boy did it look fun. He was able to toss out insane amounts of healing while providing the group with awesome buffs. He told us that his fairy was sometimes a hindrance but it didn't seem to be the case since none of us died once.

I would say yes healing in this game is fun because healers are able to contribute to DPS as well in most cases. I've seen quite a few WHMs holy spam when AoEing packs down.

Now which type of healer you should make...well that's up to you!

I used to healing as a smn/whm from 11. I started out w/ CNJ and got up to toto-rak. It was pretty fun, depending on the PUG. If was w/ a LS or FC party it was way more fun. Once i got SCH i did my first dungeon, Haukke (spelling?) mansion, now SCH is extremely fun. I love micro managing Eos and having her sit right next to the tank. SCH does, in my opinion, require more micro managing to use the faries the their fullest but I love it.

ADDITION: With a good group, Eos can easily cover the healing her self which frees me up to use some of ACN DOTs. Best part is too is that with Eos helping me heal, i don't use nearly the MP i used too.

Lots of mastery too, a good tank and healer should be able to allow the healer to deal some DPS too, so always room to improve, I think there's more depth than many DPS classes

It's a blast!
I tried healing in WoW on my priest alt and loved it, but being that it was an alt I couldn't 'connect' with that character. Going into XIV I decided early on that I was going to heal.

It has really been a blast! I've healed the first 2 instance, Sashsta (sp?) and TTD. I loved it!
As a healer, you can still generate aggro/hate with the mobs, so you have to make sure you're not just spamming heals incessantly but you can't let health drop too low either. With cross class abilities you can also throw out a few DoT's on mobs while still healing your party.

I love it! I cannot wait to get the WHM job, still have a few levels to go and am hoping to get on later tonight!

Then again, I think it also depends on the person. I love the notion of having to keep people alive. To have a group dependent on you. The pressure that may come with a bad pull or tough encounter.

Try it out! It's really the only way to find out if it's for you or not.
