1017 and queue system :: Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV, FF14)

i just dont understand why sometime you access the queue system and sometime you just get the 1017 error
ive also got the 1017 error while i was in queue, i realy have no clue on this is suppose to work

Agreed, and I've wondered this myself. I landed in queue twice earlier today trying to get onto Cactuar, but both times it ended up failing out anyhow. I suspect that if they just kept a queue going and it actually *worked*, folks would be a lot happier in general. Unfortunately, I suspect that the lobby server may be ending up overloaded by folks trying to get on as well, which ends up causing the queues to get dumped regularly. The 1017 error may be - and this is just speculation - what happens when you can't even hit the lobby server to enter the queue because the lobby server is overloaded or otherwise experiencing difficulties.

1017 seems to be what the server replies with when it isn't accepting queue requests. From what I can tell, the world servers are only opening up every 20 min or so, at which point, it is a mad dash to get a queue position. If you don't get in the queue that round, you get 1017 until the next opening.

Yeah I do wonder about this as well. Today I tried to log in, and got into the queue 4 times after trying for about 40 minutes. I managed to get into the game twice, but as soon as I got in game I got a connection lost error, and got booted straight out again, and the other two times I got a 1017 error while in queue :(
