Better safe than sorry.
Do not follow the client based registration process.
Apparently SE created "maintenance accounts" for a lot of people. You will have 1 "account" with your characters and the others will be empty.
The client based registration process assigned my code arbitrarily to a blank account. Now the account with my character sis locked.
Afterwards they direct you to the REAL site, which has the "maintenance accounts" listed and where you can enter your code to the RIGHT account.

Why is it always so confusing to register with S/E???
I bought a physical copy of FFXIV from Amazon. I have it now with the code that came inside. This website says:
"To add the PlayStation®3 platform to this service account, you must first either purchase the digital download, or apply a registration code through the Sony Entertainment Network.
Please note that PlayStation®3 services are not accessible through this website.
Upon completing registration, the game can be installed and played as normal on your PlayStation®3. "
Where on the sony network do I enter this code?

Yes it was very confusing. I almost did it client side and something triggered in me saying this was a bad idea. I went to the following site this morning immediately and luckly was able to play before work. I knew something was off. Thanks for clearing that one up.
