I ordered the **digital** version of the game **directly** from SE.

Now I'm being told to enter a registration code (that I never received) and in order to find that I have to go to another company (Digital River) that I did not knowingly enter into any agreement with for that code.

BUT..

In order to find my code I have to enter my order number (which I have) and a "password" for DRI (which I never created).

OR..

I can enter my order number and last 5 of the credit card.. but I guess using Paypal = ***** you.

If you attempt to recover you password they accept you order and email address then never send you an email (and yes I checked my spam folder).

Simply staggering the total incompetence how this whole thing has been handled.

When SE did a middle man in FFXI's payment deal, I knew then to never buy directly from them again lol.
Sorry for you hassle.
For me to get my digital code (I bought from Amazon), I had to go back to my order history and there it had the option to show Registration Keys.
Because you bought from SE's store, did you have to use your SE account? If so, is there an option like this?

What does this have to do with the price of tea in China? Am I in the right forum? I thought this was for FFXIV, not general SE issues about other games...

Everything I did when I purchased was through SE; if I had known Digital River was involved I would have canceled the process ASAP.

Now I'm stuck at the mercy of DRI to get my code; they have no phone support and apparently their recover "password" option doesn't work.

I guess the only plus is that by using Paypal I can dispute the charge and hopefully get a refund.

Well thanks to Paypal I was able to get my code.

And in another staggering example of incompetence I go through the registration process and the code is applied to a blank "maintenance account".

Now I can log in to an empty account while my "account" with my characters in not accessible.

At no point in the process did it identify or ask which "maintenance account" I wanted to apply the code to.

Is SE just that bad or is there a "caveat emptor" thing about doing business in Japan I don't understand?

It's almost like they are intentionally trying to keep people from logging in to the game - and I'm guessing they're not concerned about refunds for their NA customers as being in Asia they probably have some sort of firewall/legal loophole to shoot the middle finger to their customers.

Totally random and by no means useful to this thread but whenever I hear 'bush league' I have the uncontrollable desire to say "brah".

Damn you avocado commercial!!!!

My fault, being a NA PS3 player, I am not getting your references to The Kings of Bush League, Digital River, and how Paypal factors in. None of that stuff applied to me. I assumed you were talking about another game.

"bush league" is an old saying about being incompetent.

Everything else is baffling, as I thought buying the digital version directly from the producer should have been seamless and painless.

This is my first experience with SE and they are easily the worst MMO company, period.

Congratulations Failcom, you now are #2.

I don't know about that, have you seen Sega of America? They don't even communicate at all. If you asked them to point to the U.S.A on a map they would point to Japan.
