Starting out...Follow

Did not really know what to name the thread but I recently purchased a PS3 a new TV and FFXIV to well just play FFXIV. Still waiting on the PS3 and TV to arrive. But as I am keeping up with the news on the Lodestone I am well nervous that even when i get everything all set up I might not even be able to create a character.

Now I know they are going to be adding more servers starting monday or so they say but does that mean i am pretty much out of luck if I want to play on a server that has my friends on it. Or do you think if they open up transfers to new servers people may actually leave the higher populated ones.

Just seeing if anyone is in the same boat as me or have the same concerns.

Well, you can always just start out on a Japanese server just to try the game out and then start over on the one with your friends once they sort out the server issues. It shouldn't be long.
Server: Fairy (RIP)->Sylph

FFXIV - Noob

We will be getting server transfers, so start up on one of the *** servers and you'll be fine. Also, next week the new server hardware is being implemented, so that restriction may be lifted ever so slightly.

It's all in English (except very occasional shouts by JP players) and 75% of the people on there seem to be ex-pats from NA servers. We have a large, cool NA linkshell. And my JP server (Typhon) has worked flawlessly since day 1 of the early access, I have never gotten a login error code, never been put in login queue and never been booted using Typhon.

Now that the regular game has started the world is well-filled and it's not quite the absolute zoo that my NA server (Balmung) is - Balmung is filled-to-bursting with people falling over each other and doing the same quests I am! My JP server character has become my main and I may not even transfer him - well maybe I will to get the gil I have from 1.0 on my 50 Gladiator

Just start on an NA/EU server... they are easing the login restrictions and are adding new servers over the weekend... by the time you begin playing you should be fine.
