How do you know which grand company to pick? I think I read somewhere before that the grand company's all have a different set of equipment you can buy with seals? But how do I know which company has which equipment? I've logged off at the stage where I have to pick one. Thanks in advance

the sets are somewhat different, theyre not THAT different

but for example, twin adder usually has critical hit rate on its weapons while flames have skill speed and maelstrom has accuracy

Oh really? I was told that one company was Mage specific, the other melee and the other tank. Is this not the case? So it really doesn't matter which grand company I pick?

Copying from another place..
The Maelstrom set bonuses have a preference towards Tanks (PLD/WAR), while The Order of the Twin Adder bonuses lean towards DPS. The set bonuses for The Immortal Flames certainly provides better stats for all DoM classes.
However, if your classes are all mixed.. ask your local moogle -kupo

That's annoying making me pick so early in the game. I've only levelled one class (lancer) so far but I've no idea what class I'd want to stick with end game yet

It really isn't a game changer. The stat differences are marginal and it's not like you're going to be using that gear forever anyway. Just go with the GC you like the best.

To back this up, I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that unless you're a min/max type of person, the gear difference is too minute to notice. In addition, with the attribute points you can even things out.
Furthermore, it's my understandign that PvP will be GC vs GC vs GC, if that makes any difference to your choice, in regards to playing with friends.
