In the FFXIVAPP.PLUGIN.EVENT is there any way to track when a new FATE spawns in the zone you are in?
The "Recommendation" menu in-game, which is second from the left on the bottom row of the menus, will show fates as they spawn near you. So you could try pulling that up while you are out questing and keep an eye out.
However, this is range limited so you won't see things on the other side of the zone.

I bring up my transparent map, hold L1 and back on the right thumbstick, and zoom out the camera to max. Then I hop on my chocobo in the sanctuary and wait.
