So I'm pretty sure i had this working last night...
But now when I push the button I like to use, to talk, while in XIV...nothing happens Vent side.
Any one know how to fix this?

So I never did get vent to work, and in the end that is ok. Work out better to go with Mumble.
Never figured out how to set up my own Murmur server to host, and that worked out for the best to I guess.
I ended up just buying a Mumble server. I like it, works with no issue with FFXIV. However it isn't vent, something I kind of knew how to use.
I don't want to spam Wint's journal, so hopefully more then just one other uses mumble...or can help me because my googlechu is weak and fails me much.

I went with mumble in the end because both Apple Store and the Android Market offer a free App to connect to a server when one is within Wifi. Android users can get a free Vent app, but I never was able to find a free app on the Apple Store (Friend and some of his friends who are playing, play on ps3 and don't have a keyboard yet. This also for communication w/o using the pop up click and hit keyboard :D). Thus why Mumble was picked in the end.

I never know, without looking at the other screen, if I'm alone or not in the server. In vent there was a chime for when someone joined and when someone disconnected. I've jumped out of my seat here the last few days when someone connects and says Hi, or anything...because I'm not ready for there to be someone talking lol

So this brings me to the question at hand: Is there an option...or an add-on/plugin...that will allow to send off a chime when someone logs in/out?

Simple fix if you are trying to use vent while in game is just right click vent from your desktop and open as administrator then you should have zero issue's with your push to talk button

Yea, that did fix it, but again, no free App on Apple Market. Some of the people I play with don't have a KB to use yet, and there was no reason for them to buy a $5 app to voice chat. It is why I picked mumble in the end.

I like mumble a lot, and fairly strongly prefer it over other widely-used options such as vent. The protocol's better, it has great Linux client support (I run Ubuntu on my primary workstation), and the server side is easy and inexpensive to maintain. What sort of mumble help do you need? Please be as specific as possible, and maybe I can provide some answers.

As far as providers, I'd recommend a VPS over a simple "mumble hosting" setup unless you get a fully managed type deal and you don't want to have to manage it yourself. You can run lots more stuff on a VPS and it usually ends up being the better value.

I'm in need of a plug-in or if it is already part of the mumble program, where in what config do if find: the ability to have a Chime go off when someone logs in/off the server.
I like having the heads up when someone joins, or know when people are not there so I'm not just talking to myself.

Don't know if you bought a mumble server yet but if you haven't take a look at this.

http://cleanvoice.ru/free/mumble/en.html

It gives you a 50 man server from free. The only thing you have to do is every 15 days as a server admin you need to click to the battery icon that will show up in mumble chat to recharge it. It's totally free was using it a lot when I was playing Eve online cause I didn't have to pay. If you need some help in mumble let me know and I can see if I know.

Yea I bought one for 3mo. If we need it afterwards I'll change to a free one.
Only help I need is the question asked in above post of mine, if it is even a doable thing.

Well there is a build in notification system to let you know for various things. You go to configure -> settings -> messages (click advance if you don't see it) . There you will find all kind of notifications. Hope this is what you are looking for.
