I hit play directly at 5:00 AM EDT and now I am locked out and my launcher is empty. It's not black screen anymore, but empty.
My launcher was giving me black screen, now its showing up the news part. Looks like they working on it.

Just got past the launcher. Never closing the game again.
Got errir 2002 and then "servers are not responding" message on the black screen :/
Anybody getting "A system error has occurred" followed by a long number?
japanese servers are up and working actually I'm in game now. I'm sure you will get in soon unless the lobby server explodes

Guess you've never played an mmo on launch day before then.
The launcher has an icon named "World" that is changing colors each time I load it up. It was red before, then green a few minutes ago, and now it's yellow.

If you are getting black screen launcher just keep trying.

Now I can get to the Start screen but then 'Start' is greyed out.
Now I logged in, got into the character creation area but my character is not appearing. It gives me the option to make a new character and only in japanese servers, no NA servers available.

I keep getting booted out of the actual launcher based on some error code starting with 'http://frontierxiv", and i'm guessing it has to do with the streaming news feeds on the launcher since nothing else there seems related. Error codes or not, i'm not giving up!

Still no servers for me, but i believe my g/f is in game. However now skype is saying she doesn't have a mic even though she had one last night and didn't turn off her computer.... GG
