Is the benchmark software accurate?Follow

#1 Aug 20 2013 at 11:08 AM Rating: Decent
I did not have the new ATI drivers or the benchmark software during beta, I was getting around 20FPS inside cities and in most of the game world was at 35fps at best. I just updated my ATI drivers to the latest beta version (B) and ran the benchmark, below are the results at the highest graphic settings.

FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn Official Benchmark (Character Creation)
Tested on:8/20/2013 12:22:56 PM
Score:9345
Average Framerate:84.395
Performance:Extremely High
-Easily capable of running the game on the highest settings.

Screen Size: 1920x1080
Screen Mode: Full Screen

I am amazed by the performance boost (I do have crossfire btw), if anyone out there that used the beta and tested the benchmark software using the same video drivers can confirm this, it would be great!

I ran the benchmark and pulled a rather high FPS and benchmark score, however; in-game my FPS was only around 40-60FPS. I've heard of others reporting the same, so I wouldn't take the results of the benchmark to heart. Although if you ran the benchmark, updated the drivers, and ran it again and saw higher marks, then it's conceivable that your real world performance will increase as well -- CrossFire is known to improve by leaps and bounds with every driver update.

When you were getting 20-35 fps, was that before beta 3? Because they optimized the game between beta 2 and 3. I had a big increase in fps when entering beta 3.

Also if you go into game settings there is an option to limit the fps to 30 or 60 and even turn it off. My benchmark was over 10k and about 100 and something fps but I checked in Beta and it was only 55-60 until I realised you could turn off the limiter, then I was getting over 100 again :)

Well I got around 3k benchmark and my game runs around 20~30 fps on my laptop, which is acceptable and very playable! should run 60 easily on a desktop

I hit 35 fps in one of the most crowded places in Limsa, stuffed with glowing Carbuncles on the highest setting. And my computer and videocard arent even that spectacular. They did a lot to make things smoother.

Benchmark kinda stresses the capabilities to the max, more than what i've had ingame. If you can run the benchmark, you can easily run the game.

I scored 646 ( 5 fps) on the benchmark and still tried loading the client.
It seemed pretty darn accurate when it wasn't dying from someone running in front of me. ;)
