Don't get me wrong still pretty early so am guessing the whole concept of it shines in the later levels,
Would need a 1.0 player to clarify that right?
But during well P3 P4 I don't really ever remembering it being used or useful or even seeing a bonus when I just used it for kicks...
Well could you say Limit Break is a replacement for weapon skill chaining in FFXI, although I hate to compare that whole aspect a partying in FFXI made it pretty fun and challenging.
But if someone can spread some light on the Limit Break please enlighten me

We are a little to low level to get the full benefit of limit breaks but they do come in handy. On Ifrit for instance having the healer use the limit break to top everyone up is handy, and on many dungeon fights using the damage limit break can finish a boss before adds get to out of control for instance.

As Yoshi-P has mentioned they aren't necessary but they are useful.

I just used it as a big hit from time-to-time. No one else used it. I don't even think many people knew about it.

I can't really describe the feeling of cornyness I felt when my PUG pulled out an orange version of Cloud's buster sword. My only reaction was,"Cmon SE..."

It's a panic button/finishing move. The BLM one (and SMN probably) is useful for clearing out adds at bosses that sometimes can be too much to handle (e.g Copperbell Mine boss room if you don't try to prevent the them from breaking rocks and they keep spawning more and more and more). Melee DPS is useful finishing move (worth 10 times of the strongest WS crit). Healer and Tank are obviously panic button to prevent wipe.

I was tanking a group, and the server was about to go down...

So I shouted "Tellah do the Meteo!""

They responded "I don't know how." :(

A group of mine had trouble with Ifrit due to our low DPS. So we utilized our PUG's limit break to destroy the thorn just in time to avoid the massive inferno attack. It truly made the difference in the fight.

I've used it on my PUG a few times in dungeons when things got hectic.

It is a bit strange when my PUG pulls out a big sword and jumps in the air 20ft. But its also very cool at the same time. Its also cool to do 400 DMG at level 18 as well.

I think once we figure out what causes the limit bar to fill, we'll start to see it being used more and more effectively.

Interesting, looks like Limit Break is also affected by gears. My lowest Limit Break in Satashawhateverpiratecove (Level Sync to 18) was 625. 1,200+ with 2 bars.

I think that they should implement some sort of feature for Limit Break whereby the party decides on who is going to be able to use it or who should use it providing circumstances allow. I have been in plenty of dungeons over the beta's where people just used it on trash mobs to test it out. It really can make a difference and the tier 3 ones will be available for release I think.

Honestly just a well planned out PT with everyone agreeing could easily solve that,
For ex CJN limit break right after Ifrit big attack would be a lifesaver...wish I though of it when I did it that fight

Also, Meteor is the Level 3 limit break, so only available to full parties (8man) or raids.

But my major gripe (given the system is pretty much fixed) is that I just want thematically appropriate animations, even if they have the same effect between similar roles. As above have said, seeing PGL (or my LNC) pull out a Buster Sword is corny. Seeing a PGL/MNK bust out Final Heaven (L3 melee DPS LB) will be sweet, but for DRG ... not so much.

Generally I believe it has been said to be "skillful actions." So landing combos from melee, healing low-health targets etc. Not sure how rdps contributes, but I'm sure they do. Play well, the bar fills faster Smiley: nod

How do you tell which level your Limit Break is at? All I've noticed is whether the icon is available or grayed out.

Does using a Limit Break prevent anyone else in the party from doing so until it refills, or can everybody do their own separate Limit Break?

Exactly this.

I cannot get over this. It just seems kind of lazy to me. It would be perfectly fine if they have the same potency and everything, but it would be really nice if each weapon visually had its own unique attacks.

There are 3 limit break tiers. With a light party you get 1 bar and depending on how many more ppl you have in your party and which dungeon you are in you get 2 or 3 bars. Also monk gets final heaven. I think thats monks tier 3 limit break. I wish they used cids limit break for dragoon. Idc if I jump down from highwind (even indoors) but it makes more sense than omni slash

That is not exactly how it works. While Monk tier 3 is Final Heaven, every melee's tier 3 is Final Heaven. All Melee DD jobs have the same Limit Breaks.

All melee tier 1 limit breaks are Braver.
All melee tier 2 limit breaks are Bladedance
All melee tier 3 limit breaks are Final Heaven.

They are not job specific. They are role specific.

The limit break bar shows up in your UI customisation option thru the menu - top-left of your screen iirc (on the PC, at any rate). The hotbar ability is found in with the rest of your general actions in the ability pane (P by default on PC). In a "normal" party (light party in game), you can fill up 1 bar (grey = empty, blue = filling, orange = full) throughout the instance, with the final boss (at least, for the first 3 dungeons) allowing you to fill a 2nd bar. When someone in the group pops it, it empties for all, but only uses the full bars for calculations. So 1 bar = level 1 LB, 1.8 bars = level 1 LB, 2 bars = level 2 LB. So essentially, use it as soon as it fills (if that's the plan, prob not a good idea if you're in a DF pug), or wait, save for last boss, build up 2 bars and then a) get THM/ARC to use it if you need AoE spike to clear adds, or b) get LNC/PGL to use it on boss for a big chunk 'o damage.

When i ran SAS dungeon w/ my CNJ, i had a PUG do limit break on our first run, then a GLA do it on another run. Finally i got to do it on a later run simply because i ask and we really didn't need to do it. I didn't find them to have a huge difference but I'm assuming it's because we are so low anyways. But i have to say i did love seeing them fire off.

I never had to use mine as a healer. On boss fights sometimes we would kill the boss before both bars filled. Even if they did the fight was pretty much over so we used it just to knock off that last bit of health.

Honestly I don't think us healers will get to use it very often.

Depending. I think the limit breaks are perfect for post-signature move recovery if you know you can survive the attack fine.
