Help build PC to run at max settingsFollow

#1 Aug 19 2013 at 9:12 AM Rating: Good
Hello! I was just wondering is the minimum specs needed to play the game smoothly at max settings and how much it would cost to build a PC of that caliber. I played the beta on the PS3 and to be honest the graphics weren't all that great, nevertheless i still had a blast!

Edit: someone suggested these specs, do you think it will be able to run the game at max?

MSI b85m - g43 + i5-4570
Gskills ripjaws kit 8gb
1tb western digital blue
Plextor m5s 128gb
Palit gtx 760 jetstream + seasonic m12ii 620w
Samsung odd

Please help to improve it if possible!

I have a decent PC I built myself a year or two ago, i5-2500k and a GTX 590. With this setup the game runs pretty smooth at max settings at 1920x1080, but I actually lowered a couple of things to reduce some stutter in high traffic areas and it didn't have a big impact on the graphics. The new engine is pretty good and doesn't require ridiculous hardware to run at max settings. It also depends on what resolution you'll be running the game at. The higher the resolution, the better CPU/GPU you'll need.

This thread will give you some good indicators. At a minimum you'll probably spend $800

Im not very tech savy so i dont know how cant to compare the specs from that thread :(

It would be really kind if someone could quote the minimum specs i should look out for !

Btw i have a laptop with (quoted from mycomputer)

Manufacturer: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3610QM CPU @ 2.30GHz 2.30 GHz
Installed Memory: 8 GB RAM
System Type: 64-Bit Operating

It did not really fair well on the benchmark so i assume it wont run the game well right?

Anyways, thanks to all those that replied to the thread, i really appreciate it :)

Looks like your laptop doesn't have a dedicated graphics processor (laptop version of a graphics card)
That's why it performed badly.

Is the recommended requirements by square enix good enough to run the game at max settings smoothly?

Windows® 7 64 bit
CPU Intel® Core™ i5
Memory 4GB
Available space on hard disk/SSD 20GB
Graphics Card NVIDIA® Geforce® GTX 660 or higher, AMD Radeon™ HD 7950 or higher
Screen Resolution 1920x1080
Internet Persistent broadband internet connection required
Sound Card DirectSound® compatible sound card (DirectX® 9.0c or higher)
DirectX® DirectX® 9.0c or higher

I run it on max settings with an I5-3570K and GTX 670. The recommended settings should be good enough.

GPU is important.
I have a I7 cpu and 8 GIG memory but my graphics card is lacking and I can barely run on medium.

I noticed this weekend that I could get my 650 Ti BOOSTS running in SLI and see about 45-80 FPS (the Black Shroud saw the most dip in FPS). I kept things dialed down a bit (second highest preset) and FPS's were steady above 90.

EDITED: ALL THE SLI's

Wow 90 is nice...
I wish I could upgrade my laptop.

The computer I built 3 years ago to run 1.0 runs 2.0 perfectly well at max settings. The only thing I've changed since then is to swap out some malfunctioning GTX 470s for a GTX 670.

Actually I haven't found a game yet that I can't run at max.

i7 930, 8GB RAM, GTX 670 for vital specs there.

I've been playing on max settings at 1920x1080. Getting a consistent 60-90 FPS. Only goes down to 50 in huge crowded areas like major cities.

i5 3570k @ 4.5 GHz
GTX 670 FTW

I get 50-90fps with a 7950 boost and 3570k, so for single cards anything along those lines or higher. 660ti, 670, etc should max the game.

I can verify this, 3570k with a 660TI and I was running on max during P4 with only minor drops in frame rates in town. Even during packed fates with 100's of effects going off I was pulling 60+ FPS on average. Dropped it to high and was averaging 100+

Thanks for the information!

So will the specs I posted above be able to run the game well at max?

I really like to recommend the highest caliber RAM you can find and at least 12GB of it. The PC OS is a resource hog and you really need 12GB(or more) to run efficiently. I agree with Wint and go with SLI or Crossfire setups.

You really can't go wrong with just picking the best PC for your money off this list, which is very regularly updated.

Budget build to run this particular game on max settings:

CPU: Intel i5-4570
Mobo: ASrock H87 Pro4
Ram: 4Gb 1600Mhz
GPU: Nvidia GTX 660

That's all you need to run this particular game on max settings at 1080p. You will not drop below 30 fps, almost guaranteed. Well, unless you have 100 people on your screen.

Edit: This build should score you 8000 on the benchmark.

You do not need a powerful PC at all to run at max settings. I have a 4 year old PC and I was still able to run FF14 on max.

I actually participated in beta 4, have you? did you have fraps running the whole time? did you even test it inside a city with multiple PCS/NPCS?

I doubt you did because FFXIV is not FFXIV ARR graphically.

On your 4 year old PC you don't even have 1080p probably. Your definition of max is simply that it can run then lol. Because if you ran FRAPS you would be nowhere near 60fps.
