So we might as well delete the phase 3 client?
#5 Aug 11 2013 at 1:38 PM Rating: Good
Yeah they said at the end of P3 to go ahead and delete it (looking for the link now) as it will be a new client for P4.

So we'll have to link our SE and PSN account information again, right? I remember doing this in P3 but I thought that those that participated in P3 had automatic pass into P4.

We still need a code as the p3 codes expired. I deleted my client software on the ps3 yesterday.

I didn't know to delete the P3 client, but I will now that I've heard to go ahead.

One question though for anyone that played on the ps3 (PC might have it also, but I do not know). When you're in the character creation menus, at the end before you could complete it, you could save your creation to a separate file other than the actual character file. Kinda like a template or something. Will those still be valid files for P4 and release? Should I keep them, or delete them just the same? I had one set up for the character that I am sure I want to play. Would really only be a minor convenience if I had to remake it, so it's not the end of the world.Smiley: grin

Your character is on their servers, so you will have the option to keep that character once you log back in.

From the Beta forums

Quote:
Character Appearance Data
Character appearance data saved during beta test phase 3 can be used when creating a character during beta test phase 4 and official service. Those who wish to use their appearance data should not delete the following folder:
Windows
My Documents -> My Games -> FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn (Beta Version)
PlayStation®3
(From "XMB") Game → Saved Data Utility (PS3™)

* Existing character save data cannot be used after phase 3, and can safely be deleted.
Those who do not intend to use character appearance data from beta test phase 3 may delete this folder. However, windows users should please note this folder also contains screenshots. Please move any screenshots you wish to save to a separate location before deleting this folder.
.

I deleated the client but kept the file saved as data in the Data Utility. This one keeps all the characters saved in the character creation menu.

My question is this. Do phase 3 players need to sign up and get a new beta code? If so that kinda sucks. I've been banking on getting in automatically and didn't sign up for a new code. Yeah, my bad.

To my knowledge, those in p3 will also get a code to p4. Both pc and ps3 need codes and they are slowly rolling them out.

You can delete the game, as it will be replaced by a different one for phase 4. As for the saved data:

Quote:
The character appearance saved data and the "save data" in the PS3 XrossMediaBar (under the "Saved Data Utility (PS3â„¢)") are two separate things.

The "save data" that can be deleted refers to your character information on the PS3; this can be removed after phase 3. We recommend that you leave your "System Data" file alone, as it contains any character appearance data that you saved.

Thank you kindly. Smiley: smile

I'm still waiting on my code as well. I didn't get my original code until halfway through phase 3 (had someone here give me one Smiley: grin), so I'm not expecting it to be in my inbox in time.
