FFXIV: ARR for PS3, Keyboard?Follow

#1 Aug 05 2013 at 8:11 PM Rating: Good
This is my first post on this site, I used to play FFXI on the PS2 and LOVED it! I had a really cool controller with a built in keyboard! Naturally, when PS3 version was announced I rushed out and pre ordered it. In my research though I'm not seeing many keyboard controllers, so I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions on what kind of controller/keyboard combos you are using? Be specific thanks:)

On PS2 I used a full on keyboard. I have the ps3 micro keyboard attachment thingy but I still find a classic keyboard on my lap the best thing. It's just easier for me. The ps3 controller keyboard just has far too many tab/top triggers to be efficient. Unless you're a healer chances are you won't be communicating in the thick of it unless you're mic'd.

My friend uses this.

It's not the same, but eh. If I were you, I'd just use a regular controller with a keyboard on the side. But, preferences are preferences. There is an adapter to take the model you mentioned to use on the PS3, btw.

Well, I think these posts are on the same topic, if you decide on a PS3 Controller and a Wireless Keyboard option. This Thread

I think a few of us were convinced to buy THIS keyboard. I was one of them and I really like it. Its small but not too small. It has a sweet range and you can plug an play. All for under $30. The batteries are supposed to last a longgggg time too.

Someone will post that Keyboard with two thumb sticks in a few posts.

PS3 I use full keyboard, controller and mouse. The mouse is great, it saves you the trouble of having to go through layers of menus.

Logitech K360 is probably going to be your best bet. It's wireless, compact, and cheap. If you want to shell out some dough though I would go with the Logitech Netplay controller/keyboard combo. That thing was amazing for FFXI. However you may want to pick up a USB splitter then so you can use a mouse as well since PS3 still supports it. It's great to have a mouse to accompany the controller for menus and the like.

My new PS3 controller just for FFXIV. The keyboard is small, but it's something I can get deal with (I used to have a Palm Centro). There is a also a comfortable grips and real triggers for L2 and R2. Which also allows for a better grip when using abilities.

I found that little R1+L3 "mouse mode" Icon to be the opposite of easy to use. An actual USB mouse is far superior.

I'm still crossing my fingers for the PC User Interface (not the crossbar) to be available as an option for PS3 users.

Also, if the text command /nextenemy is implemented, then you would be able to create a User Macro and map it to the Cross-bar. During P3, the PS3 really needed a way to easily select/switch targets during battle. I think this is essential, and I just can't see how it would possibly be overlooked in P4 and release.
