No V-Sync?!Follow

Just downloaded the benchmark, and unless I'm being a moron I can't see an option for V-Sync?

Surely there is an option for this, every game has it these days...tearing is awful.

It's available in the game.

I added FFXIV to the games list in the NVIDIA control panel and enabled vsync there, and it totally fixed all my screen tearing.

Did you have tearing in the benchmark? I didn't see any in mine, but with 1.0 I had horrible horizontal tearing that I was never able to fix.

I think what these forums need is for someone who knows about these things to explain to the rest of us technology ignorant people what all these graphics thingies mean. All those options in the graphics tab that I just try to set to max.

I have been a gamer all my life but have always just bought the best card, or the best laptop I could afford and left the quality of the graphics to look after themselves. I am scoring up in the mid-7000's on the benchmark at 1920x1080 on max settings so I am happy but I did see a horizontal line through the middle of the benchmark on a few occasions, but I don't know the cause of it,

Could it be one of these graphical settings?

Was it just a solid black or colored line or did it look like the top half of the image was separated and shifted from the bottom?

I'm usually in the threads regarding anything PC related as I build them. If you have questions I can answer feel free to ask here and I'll do the best I can to explain.

Its personal preference and all, but yes we need to educate WoW players that this is OUR game, these are Characters and not Toons. Time to beat that into them one at a time.

I did the V-Sync change in the NVidia settings and it got rid of a crapton of tearing, but it increased my load time and took about 700 points off my benchmark score... I am unsure if the tearing annoys me enough to keep it on or not. We'll see!

That's screen tearing. V-sync will fix it in game. It happens when your FPS is higher than your screen refresh rate. This seems to happen a lot now-a-days with great cards becoming more affordable while 120hz monitors are still $300+. If you get more than 60fps and your monitor is only 58-60hz then it can only display up to the 60 frames and ends up causing the tearing. In some games it isn't as noticeable, you might only see a bit of choppiness in the framerate. I'm sure there are other reasons for screen tearing, but that seems to be the most common one.

This made me a sad panda when I loaded up Diablo III on my new desktop only to find that the game looked "laggy" at 120ish fps. I turned on V-sync and it ran much smoother.

Thanks for comments guys,

The issue with my screen seemed to be one really thin horizonal line (not bold black - more the colour of that part of the screen at the time) that appeared on 2 occasions during the benchmark. Did not affect overall quality (much) and was only there for a second or two but it bugged me since I had spent a lot of money on a gaming laptop to run the game at max settings. Filth - I will take you up on the offer if I have any specific queries - cheers,
