Hopefully phase 4 starts way before then. That could just be the date that they start to accept more applicants. I'm itching to play asap!

IF it starts on August 17th, then unless Yoshi-P shortens the length of OB, then Early Access has, at maximum, a length of three days.
August 17th - August 23rd
August 24th - August 27th
Something doesn't add up there. There is literally no time between OB and Early Access to fix any issues. I'd estimate Phase 4 would start on the 14th at the latest, just so the Dev Team would have at least 3 days to fix anything, then use the weekend as Early Access.

This isn't surprising to me, I thought we were figuring on only a couple of days early access? I'm just glad there will be a short window between P4 and Early Access

I assumed the game would enter Phase 4 on August 9th. It just made sense to assume that. Now I'm not sure what to think. We could very well see tons of server closures for maintenance if this report is accurate. There is simply no room to fix any slack that we might crop up during the launch. This is a bad omen if true. People already have a bad taste in their mouth from the horrible launch of 1.0. It goes to reason that nobody would want any delays or "All world's maintenance" during the first few days of launch.
Was kinda upset at first but.. I guess that just means more time for me to play Tales of Xilia lol...
Edit: also want to say it doesnt make sense.. Beta is a week long so 17-24th yoshi specificaly said 1-3 days downtime to early acess.. Idk seems fishy.

Perhaps P4 will be August 17th to 21st only. He's been warning players it would be short!
I really hope some official timing will be announced with the release of the Character Creator tomorrow.
August 17th fits, but August 9th fits just as well. This does not necessarily mean phase 4 wont start sooner.

Well, it was stated P4 is only a week per Yoshi P sighting on a server during Phase 3, so it makes sense and Early Access was never going to be a long period of time lol.
How can you start a beta with no registrations...an OPEN beta where you have to register? We have previous testers but you kind of need people to sign up for your beta to get in if it's open and not invite based. How or why would they start it before allowing people to register? SE is all about fairness with ARR, that wouldn't exactly be fair.

Phase 4 registration started weeks ago. This is for late registration.
According to the roadmap, P4 is supposed to last between 1 to 2 weeks with a few days offline before early access. If I remember correctly, it has also been hinted at that early access would start on the 20th. I am hoping that this post from reddit is wrong.
I think the servers are pretty stable so hopefully there won't be as many issues for the launch as there were, say, for Alpha. Plus with Phase 4 and early access they should have a pretty good idea of what the server stress is going to be like. That being said, I still won't be taking launch day off to play

This made my smile because it's so true. I wish I had your willpower Wint, I have this sneaky feeling I'll have the day off only to be rewarded with 24 hour maintenance. I pray that I'm wrong, but 7+years of FFXI tells me otherwise.

I was thinking it could be an older webpage that was never updated and probably forgotten about.
We really won't know for sure until the live broadcast with Yoshi next week on the 8th when they officially announce the dates.
For now this is the hottest topic on all of the forums, we're all dying to know any new news about P4 or Early Access...
