FFXIV Character data 1.0 WHERE'D IT GO?Follow

#1 Jul 10 2013 at 9:08 AM Rating: Decent
So I'm trying to find my 1.0 character data. I went to my old legacy server, I was on Ragnarok and... nothing there. Am I missing something? Was I supposed to do something in my account? I checked the Lodestone and my character still exists, I just can't find it or I just don't know how to load it into ARR. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Are you using the same account? Are you sure it was on Ragnarok?

You don't need to do anything. If you had a 1.0 character it should be automatically there in 2.0, if you find that isn't the case then SE would be the people to help.

Sucks. I'm pretty positive I'm using the same account. I didn't do anything after the switch and I know I'm on Ragnarok... I can load the appearance data but as for my character... there's zilcho. Looks like I'm going to have to struggle with SE customer service. :(

There are issues with the NA/EU servers. If you check the beta forum Technical Support, you'll see a bunch of people are having issues. I had to make a new character on a JP server this morning.

Hmm, thank you for that. I just went over to the forums to scout it out. Do you know what they're planning to do about that or what a solution might be? I couldn't find any good answers.

I wish I knew. I'm guessing that this is only affecting some people or the forums would be blowing up. Also, sites showing server status (arrstatus.com) show that the NA/EU servers are online.

Might want to check out this thread for info on how to make the support call easier (get a ticket # first):

You're the reason why they have a Beta Phase 3 in the first place. Contact S-E support and get it figured out. Better now in the beta than not getting it migrated for launch.

Well I figured it out. And it kinda sucked for me. Apparently I had two accounts... I'm still a little confused how it happened, the SE rep tried to explain it to me, but even he couldn't give me a thorough answer. It's like my account split in two when I bought FFXIV 1.0. Regardless, because of that my main character won't get legacy status and my other account had no characters on it so no legacy former there either. :(

All because of some strange user error of mine that the SE rep couldn't even really figure out. It's a sad day.

That sucks! Well, at least you're not the only person starting fresh.

I think he is saying he can still get to his 1.0 character, but it will not be considered Legacy.

As far as I have seen, no one has lost their 1.0 character in the transition.

I see. That also sucks, but considerably less than losing all progress.

Something doesn't add up. If you paid 90 days, you paid. Unless, you paid >90 on one account and the remainder on another. Which doesn't really make sense that you don't know that you did that. If you had any sort of substantial play time for your 1.0 character, It should have totally 90 days. When you say your account split in two, are you referring to a past SE account from FFXI? Just feel like there is a piece missing, because you'd know, and have the billing to prove you dished out the cash for 90 days or more. Well, on the bright side, glad you were able to find your account. Losing progress can suck.

If you can prove that you paid for 90 days of service during the legacy drive then the account you paid on should qualify for legacy. Pretty much the only way it could have been your fault is if you somehow got them to unlink your FFXIV service account from your Square Enix ID and had them link it to a completely different Square Enix ID. Even then I'd expect them to attribute legacy status to the service account and not the Square Enix ID itself...

This is something that requires a call to customer service and is a process that can take several days or more. You'd definitely remember if you had this done as they verify all your account details as a security measure, it's something they do on rare occasions and they would have verified all of your account details for security purposes.

I don't think so. I called them about this a while back. If you didn't sign up for Legacy during the correct time period, you are SoL even if you are eligible.

Note the 'if' at the beginning of the sentence. Their issue is that they have multiple XIV service accounts and I'd guess that the service account(or possibly SE ID) that their character is currently linked to somehow became ineligible. First things first. Figuring out exactly how and why that happened will probably clear up why it is that they do not qualify for legacy.

Regardless, barring some sort of boneheaded move on SE's part, if they can prove that they paid for 90 days during the period of eligibility; I honestly think they should be granted legacy status anyway.

Lol. Thanks guys for defending me, but it was really my own bonehead move. I believe Gnu is right though...

The account I thought I had been paying on was the account that I had open since the initial FFXIV 1.0 Beta test. It has my old FFXI info on it too. But, at the time my system couldn't really handle FFXIV so after about 2 months in (not certain about this, but it wasn't 90 days) I reluctantly deactivated my account in hopes of getting a better system. (I'm not even sure what happened to those characters now that I think about it... the SE rep told me there was no FFXIV 1.0 data on my old account... does it deactivate over time?)

Anyway, so then after a long time and many MMO's later I remember FFXIV 1.0 and get back on just in time before SE announces the overhaul and beta test. Apparently though, this is where things get confusing. When I jumped back on, I created a new account and started a new character (the new character is obvious). Then when the beta test rolled around, I signed up for the beta test with my old account and not the new one. Hence why I couldn't find my current character.

How I managed this? I have no idea. Anyway, between the two accounts I qualified for Legacy, but no single account qualifies.

See what happened? I'm a bonehead.

But at least I can still enjoy the game with my current 1.0 character. :)
