I am probably beating a tired drum on this one, but as Beta 4 will carry over to release I want to make sure I'm on the right server. I only began in Beta 3 so I've missed a lot of historical context.

My first priorities are latency times and non-legacy only. I am NA west coast / northwest but I am not sure how to derive geographic specifics beyond NA.

Does anybody have any idea which servers are on the US west coast and specifically where?
Any insight or opinion on the servers I've mentioned one way or the other?
Any other non-legacy NA servers worth taking a look at, and why?
Thanks in advance.

Here is what I am entertaining so far:

Ultros - ZAM server. Thinking hard on this for ease of group play in large numbers and ease of communication here.

Cactuar - Found a couple other active guilds hanging out here (for now). Like the name. Not sure what to expect.

Gilgamesh - RP server for non-legacy players. This could be fun but I am wondering how well it could really work out without the ability to create your own quests. I'm not sure what to expect out of the crowd.

Coeurl - My current server for Beta Phase 3. I have made a few friends, it seems like it has a low troll level, and everyone has been extremely friendly and helpful. I am reluctant to leave behind what I know and has been good to me, and the server where I will most likely recognize people from Beta after release. It does not seem overcrowded but the hubs are definitely busy.

In the end I may end up going on multiple servers anyway, but would like to start off on the best foot.

There are exactly two datacenters where FFXIV servers can be located:
- Tokyo, Japan
- Montreal, Canada

Your latency to any server in the US/EU group (Montreal) will be the same as they're all in the same place.

I still find it kind of ironic that SE knows Canada well enough to house all of the NA servers here, but not well enough to send us PS3 beta codes for the proper country. They sent (a good chunk of) us US codes. We had to create a US account for PSN, redeem the beta code, then switch back to our Canadian accounts to download the client... Sheesh!
