there is always enough xp without quests/levesFollow

#1 Jul 03 2013 at 3:59 PM Rating: Decent
a lot of posts on a lot of forums are complaining about the lack of allowances allotted per day and that the lack of them will limit new players to being able to properly level fast enough to keep them interested.
I feel these posts are not considering filling out your hunting guilds and rested xp. In my opinion there will always be enough xp for your first 3-4 jobs(not including gather/crafter)
Fates should be done as you see them as boosts in between main story quest and gathering.

yea i was really surprised at how much exp my huntlog got me . They also lead into the instances to get even more exp from running them :)

I leveled so fast I didn't have time to do any of those leves till around 18-19. I saw some people complain in the game, and I couldn't understand what they were doing wrong b.c I actually had to backtrack to do my story quest. I don't know what they are actually not doing.

I had to go back and do most of my leves after getting an airpass. Maybe some people just don't like to grind as they go. I think it's fun :D I got a lot of mine from FATEs though.

Good to know about the huntlog, I never paid it much mind. I surmise the craftlog is a good way to go for DoH then.

the way I lvl crafting is try to make every item once since you get bonus exp. Than you got leves ( useally you will have the items needed already ). I was crafting things 3-4 lvls above me and was getting good exp for completeing the craftlogs.

Square already said the story will get one class to 50, for the others there are individual hunting logs, guildhests(which are alot of fun), leves, fates, and of course the dungeons. Sad to see so many people on beta forums acting like it is going to be impossible to get multiple classes to 50. I am surprised at the diversity of ways to level.

Too many people see quests and assume this is just another quest based leveling game. Which it can be for the first couple classes, but after that you have to explore other avenues of leveling. And there are a number of other avenues, but it seems like once people see quests, they assume there is nothing else.

We are only in beta, and already I am willing to p2p. There is plenty of content to keep you busy, def more than 1.xx that's for sure.

The one area where I found myself really wanting to burn a bunch of leve allowances was gathering. The XP in general is less than what the other classes get. Similar deal with the bonus XP from the gathering log. I wonder if DoL XP will get a boost or if that's how they want it to be.

I used all my allowances to get shards as reward from crafting leves. But I might just take up miner.

If you keep your gear as up to date as possible for harvesting, you can pull off doing nodes several levels above you, which increases your XP rate -- especially if your Gathering gear is HQ.

Seeing how I just need to level Arcanist, I will use my quests for that class, use hunting logs and F.A.T.E.s to finish off my monk. I will be using all my leve allowances to cap off weaver and level up my Carpenter. =)

I found gathering rather monotonous as well, but I consoled myself in that I didn't need to buy those items from the guild vendor. I'm looking forward to buying a house, so saving gil that opens up opportunities for my main-classes and their materia requirements are worthwhile ventures.

I think one of my favorite 1.0 songs was the gathering leve music. That and the goobue music, so relaxing for such a beastly mount haha.

Some also say that while the allowances are enough for leveling your classes they are not enough when you try to level up lets say your blacksmith or some other crafting job. I am not sure on that because I still haven't tried any but for my goldsmith that I got to level 11 the leveling was pretty easy. I mean you have the log that is similar to the hunting log. With each item you make you get xp and when you do all the log you get more xp and move to the next levels. So at least until level 11 it was pretty easy. Didn't keep leveling because I run out of crystals and didn't want to go harvest since I had do so many other things.

Unless you are low on coin or low on materials, the crafting leves tend to slow you down rather than speed you up -- especially when you get the mid-level ones that split between the home city and, say, Quarrymill or Broken Water.
