It won't work and its making me crazy. USP/PS2 controller amd the USB'd PS3 don't work either. What am I doing wrong? Before I just had to plug in, turn on, play.

Thanks.

Did you check in Control Panel - and Devices to see if there are system errors? Try a different usb port.
Good luck.

Since this thread isn't getting a reply, I can see what I can say blind. I don't have the PC version, sadly, so I can't really do more than general stuff.

As mentioned above, first check your device manager, and verify if the gamepad is working. If there is a hazard symbol, try to reinstall the driver. This can normally be done relatively easily. Right click, uninstall, disconnect and reconnect controller.

If there is no hazard symbol, or the controller works in other games, look in the options inside FFXIV or for a config program in its installation folder. See if the config has a Gamepad option sort of like FFXI had. You may need to enable and configure it there.

I had the same issue, and here is the quick PS3 controller fix:
Download the motionjoy drivers and the program (at work now so can't remember offhand what the name is). Connect the controller and load the drivers as per their instructions. Set the controller type to Xbox and click enable. The buttons all map correctly to the defaults.

Hopefully that works for you. I set up the PS3 controller in about 5 minutes doing it this way this morning. Mostly just wanting to try out the interface.

Just as an update, there are very few working controllers at this point, really hoping they make this a little more robust in phase 4... After playing a fair bit of the Alpha, I got fairly used to using the keyboard/mouse though

I've always used MotioninJoy to connect my PS3 controller to PC. If all else fails try that out.

Thanks for the help. I didn't know about motionjoy, so I will look into it. I do know that Phase 2, when controllers were enabled, only a few worked but A LOT OF PEOPLE said that more and more would be supported in Phase 3. I guess I should post this in the Beta forums, maybe they forgot. In 1.0 I pluged and played. I was hoping to do the same...

I will update my results late this evening, thanks!!!!!
