Looking for feedback on classes and jobs..Follow

Mostly opinions with a bonus question at the end. As far as my opinion goes, I am just looking to see if I'm the only one. .

Far too little Disciples of Magic? In comparison to DoW's

Where the %#@÷ is the theif/rogue/ninja class? I am shocked that there isn't one, especially with the introduction of PVP.

Lastly, what's the difference between your job and class? Is one an arch type/predecessor for the other?

Classes are more solo oriented, Jobs are more party oriented. Consider your job to be a stance of your class.

When you're a Paladin it says -- Paladin (Gladiator Level 33).

Jobs are limited on what you can cross class but you get additional job abilities.

They haven't announced anything for a ninja/thief etc. I admit would like to have one but something tells me its gonna be a class they will bring in on a later date.

Please note that Ninja was not released in XI until the first expansion (along with Samurai and I believe Summoner). There are a number of "core" jobs that are not yet in the game. I think you can afford to wait a little longer until your preferred role is introduced. I'm in the camp that wants Samurai as soon as possible.

Yoshi also seems pretty open to the idea of adding new classes and jobs. During the live letter this morning, he suggested that he'd probably do that instead of just releasing extra weapons for people to equip.

The idea of a thief not eventually finding its way in would be absurd.

Dragoon was a RotZ job too I believe.

Ninja, Samurai and Dragoon came with Rise of the Zilart.

I'm betting that Thief/Ninja will be among the first new classes to come out. They're staple classes.

So what are people's guesses regarding whether RDM will ever be added. I'm having trouble seeing it, awesome as they are, in a game where one can cross-class so many different skills. Not to say that it can't be implemented in an awesome way, but it seems like it would be better to focus on other staple jobs or even a new job that we haven't seen yet.

FFXI was the same way but I remember seeing tons of Red Mages around (never played one). I think they can make them unique enough to warrant being their own class. Red Mage is another staple, it'd feel strange not to have them.

I figured instead of starting a new thread I'd ask a follow up here:

So, would I be able to (if I understand correctly) Level a BM to say 20, then start leveling the same character as a WM to say level 10. And then switch back to my BM but use WM abilities as a sub set?

Yoshi mentioned that he strongly wanted to get a THF type job in, but needed to add DoM jobs first, which he has now added SMN and SCH so maybe THF will be the first post-launch job? He also mentioned that SAM/NIN were extremely popular but I'd have to imagine RDM will get mixed in within that next grouping to continue adding mages along with melee.

My guess, we'll get a patch after 4-6 months with THF, RDM, and either SAM or NIN. Unless they find something else to work on post-launch that grabs all their focus. *Goldensaucercoughcough*

Yep, that's exactly how it works. I believe there are a limited amount of cross-class abilities you can equip, but you could definitely add some... like putting Cure onto your blm.
