Remeber when you used to run around Vanadiel and beat the hell out stuff... well id like to hear some stories from you all explaining some of your most favorite adventures and maybe the most rememorable moment for the lot of you...

For me one of the greatest moments (which i also found hilarious) i was lvling my PLD and had been for hours waiting on my brother to log on... lil did i know he had been on but had hidden his status from all... i was near death at one point trying to kill multiple mobs when out of nowhere my brother comes out of invis with a cure V saving the day... he had been following me invisable for hours he stated which only made it that much funnier ;)

Christmas Super Inflation, mule in Jeuno, selling single Shihei for stack prices. Having to make two mules just to keep from not being able to make money anymore.

When my entire linkshell put on the newly released mandragora costumes and started parading around Windurst Woods in a conga line. There were like twenty of us.

I remember a fun party I had in crawler's nest while leveling ninja. This THF had no idea how to play his job. Even though he was terrible, he was so earnest and eager to learn, we couldn't even get mad. After explaining SATA Viper bite, we waited every battle for him to get it right. He'd SATA.... *long pause* Viper bite late, EVERY TIME. Each time my friend and I were watching our screens staring and hoping. When he failed, we'd Smiley: lol, and try again. He kept saying, "I'm sorry guys, I'll try really hard to get it next time!" He finally got it! I was happy that we all were patient enough, and didn't flip out on him. Valuable experience in attitude is everything.

The End.

For better or worse I loved when you got a party together that worked, and you would stay up until 4 am getting 5 or 6 levels...and feeling awesome afterwards.

I'll never forget the amazingly diverse topography of the game design. San D'Oria > Valkurm> Jeuno> Qufim Island. Then off to Yhoator Jungle and beyond. I'm amazed I remember all that after not playing for 6 years or so.

I think some of the best times I had were when we were farming pop items in sky. We used to play the "who can we make tank things" game... If someone was AFK without saying anything we'd haul monsters over to them and have the thiefs plant hate on them. Or we'd randomly do it to mages that got too close. They used to do it to me all the time when I was on BRD... so one time I loaded up with DD gear and made a few macros... so as soon as they planted hate on me I did a quick swap and BOOM! Battle Bard! Everyone cracked up, and I managed to hold my own pretty good :P

I also remember doing CoP and my first step into Lufaise Meadows and Misereaux Coast. It felt like I was in a whole new game. It is the one part of FFXI that I really enjoyed was that there was always somewhere new to go or unlock. I don't think any other MMO has really captured that essence for me. Seems that most new MMO's let you get everywhere pretty quickly and without much trouble. FFXI really made you work for certain area access... and it was always so much more rewarding when you finally got there.

One of the more fun adventures I had was when me my brother and a friend ran around the world for a day killing all NMs we saw/could think of that we wanted. We got O-bow, Selene bow and a Joytoy as the more notable items.

The most exciting was O-bow because we were against another group there and since the window was so long every time a new gob popped your heart jumped. The most fun was Selene bow because it was so different compared to most pop conditions and again we were against other people (two other groups). The most retarded was Joytoy because we just ran down and Charby literally popped when we ran into the room, I claimed and we killed it... I felt bad for all the people around there that had actually been camping it, but I was still really happy heh.

Doing and finishing up COP storyline with my static of friend, awesomes memories with that group, we did it kinda early when COP was out and it was very hard. When we finally finished it (it took more than 4 months, doing it 2 times a week) we had an unmatched sense of accomplishment. The epic story of COP helped a lot with that.

Also, gear wise, that would be when I got the Crimson pants from sky. That was the item that let me, as a PLD, kite everything in the game (or close to it). It was such a game changing piece of gear for PLD :)

ill never forget popping Flee and doing circles around my LS mates whom were standing in a circle in jeuno talking battle strats wondering Wtf I was doing... Then all the sudden I had like 10 random other thfs join in with me creating a NASCAR like look around my whole EGLS the laughs and talk in chat got pretty funny to say the least...

While leveling NIN in the Dunes helped a noob WAR understand sharing hate, then helped him with his subjob quest when the party was done. Partied wtih him 3 months later while leveling BLU and he was a level 50 PLD, and a damn good one. My first Dynamis getting placed as the healer as a DNC in a party of spike damage dealers and keeping them all on their feet and hasted for almost the entire run (one complete group wipe). The great part was the next run and every one after the same guys all jumped into my party if they could. I have to say, though, the best times I had was helping new players whenever I came across them. Someone helped me when I was a noob killing rabbits around Sandy so I always tried to do the same.

Some of my favorite memories involve being a lower level paladin and attempting to navigate beastmen strongholds for AF quests and Missions. Exploring was by far my favorite part of FFXI and the Missions were amazing for that. Going to all of those random out-of-the-way locations that no one in their right minds would go otherwise (and apparently where armies of gil farmers would hide out XD). Also, having Japanese parties lavish praise upon me for my tanking/barding abilities. My first time in a 3mnk/whm/rdm/brd bone party (running around and killing stuff like it always should have been).

And who can forget the first time a Kraken or Pirates spawned on the boat, resulting in a quick warp back to your homepoint because the only WHM was a gil farmer. Or your first venture into La Theine where you had heroically slain a dodo from hell only to feel your controller rumble and have Lumbering Lambert bite off your torso. Or the time you were fighting a goblin in Bibiki Bay when an unknowing tarutaru WHM rides by on his chocobo only to have the goblin drop a bomb at near full hp, one shotting the poor taru and causing him to slide face first along the ground 50 feet.

I don't have a specific moment but my favorite times were when you were able to get into a great party and everyone clicked well. Everyone helped everyone out. Time would just fly by. I hope I can get those experiences again with ARR.

I was running to the Dunes as a new player when I saw Lambert in the distance and ran up to what I thought was a safe distance to take screenshots. I asked my LS if Lambert aggro'd and just as the hurried "YES! RUN!" replies came across he spotted me and stomped me flat. It was a running joke in the LS for awhile.

Oh and a memory I'll always enjoy from this past year of playing again will be of me being Puppetmaster in Aby La Theine, one shotting worms while Dreizehn did the same. It was always enjoyable to sick him on a worm that 6 other people were getting ready to attack, only to have it's health go poof and them all sheathing their weapons.

Not the best, but the thing I remember the most easily because it happened with relative frequency was people wtf'ing over my gear and my damage as a SAM/rng. I had +1 everything, usually signed by myself, and something like 150 RACC. Sometimes people insisted that I bought gil (never did). Samurai was actually my first job past 40, so I had to make a ton of money as a crafter to be able to gear myself out like that. I had the pleasure of dinging into a Peacock Charm at 33 that I purchased from the Auction House. Basically, at level 40, I donned my Soboro Sukehiro, let the Sidewinders rip, and proceeded to be the main tank and damage dealer for pretty much every party. Mostly I liked the busy playstyle of it compared to the usual Samurai playstyle, but the reactions I got were priceless.

Eventually I started toying with other bizarre configurations--I had a great SAM/nin build that allowed me to solo T's and VT's. I was also working on a SAM/bst for soloing. Then DNC came and I started working on that one. Never did really start working towards a relic though (even though I really wanted the relic bow)... even for me, those were too ridiculous.

My best memories, I'm sure, would be from time spent with friends and such, but that's another trip down memory lane.

Being way too shy to even attempt to talk to people or group up, trying to grind out mobs and levels solo... I still regret not sticking with it...

I'm this way in a lot of games as well, FFXI being no exception.

1. Finishing COP with a very unconventional group. We never gave up and enjoyed one another's company. Made the final cut scenes much more than just plot.

2. Trio'ing Hakutaku for about half his life bar with two other beastmasters. Our LS wiped and we nicked away at Haku while out LS was raising and healing. Was a frantic battle I felt a lot of pride for being able the contribute to the highest I could.

3. Solo'ing Jormungand... for about 10 seconds:

For me, first time arriving at Jeuno after being lost for 3 hours, then being at O.O for seeing all the cool high level players with their end game gear.

Shouting for AF for hours getting help and meeting good friends through that!

CoP 6~4 was a ***** to beat after spending almost 1 mill on items because my party sucked >_> but I felt like a boss when getting sea access because I knew I was one step closer to Rajas Ring.

Fake disconnecting in Dynamis because I hated doing the same zone 2 months in a row for some hump in my LS >_>....

Beating Divine Might at 2004 when that was the toughest fight in the game.

Thats it, I believe~

Ugh...I hated the fact that there was only 1 dynamis zone (and not multi-instanced)...which always caused much grief when your whole LS had gathered on time and patiently waiting to enter....only for the zone you were about to run get ganked at the last second by some other shell who just showed up because the zone they were about to run got ganked by some other ls..etc... UGH! Smiley: mad

I remember soloing the Black Dragon in the snow, and I remember a waterfall in one of the zones you unlocked after completing the Promy stuff. I remember my first Chocobo ride being pretty awesome too!

My buddy and I tried to travel to Jeuno with no sneak/invis when we were around level 19~20. We made it all the way to Rolanberry and caught aggro. A level 30 Samurai/war named Celestin voked the mobs off of us and we watched him fight. There were too many and he said "Run!". We ran to Jeuno, but as I looked back I saw him fall to the mobs. He died helping us get to Jeuno and he was our hero. We became friends after and I'll always remember that hume in his Gi and Ochi Kote laying down his life for a couple noobs.

While doing ZM mission runs for the first time, we had to do the Ifrit's Cauldron one, I can't remember the details, but you had to click on something rather obscure to get a key item for the subsequent mission. I went with my LS, and we had gathered quite a few people including a few randoms who saw us gathering and needed the missions. We only had one tank, one of the randoms we picked up. So we go all the way through IC, without an in-game map, I'm alt-tabbing to the FFXI maps website trying to lead. We caught aggro tons of times from bombs, nearly chained the entire zone at one point...

At the very end, we got to the location and we all clicked on the little spot. I asked everyone if they had it, they all said OK. I made sure to ask them to double-check, because it was quite a tricky thing to collect. They all assured me they received it. We all warp/teleport out back to Whitegate.

As soon as we do, the tank /tells me that he did not receive the key item. In party chat, people begin asking where he is, as they had all began to gather at the next spot. He flips out and starts cursing at the game in party chat now, saying if no one helps him go get the item that he's quitting the game. No one wanted to help me help him, so...he actually quit. Never saw any transactions from his character on the AH website after that.

Entire LS equipping a lvl 1 job and racing to Jeuno. 1st person to make it wins 100k, dying disqualifies you. Oh, the chatbox that day!

Hunting the Sandworm as THF/RNG against 2 other HNM shells. He popped, I claimed, then as I was turning around to run I accidentally hit my /heal button o.O. Other 2 ls guys laughed at me as I took 2 hits to about 10%hp, popped Perfect Dodge and Flee to the zone, periodically hitting Sandworm with bloody bolts to keep hate. Got to the PLD just in time, he voked the worm, then as I stopped to regroup a gob aggro'd and 1-shot me xD. Got Ancient Torque that day Smiley: grin

Making the mistake of closing a Light SC on SAM/THF with Sneak Attach + Kasha. Popped on evasion + dmg% down set, Seigan + Thirs Eye, then proceeded to dodge/Third Eye 10+ hits in a row and take no damage before I could Trick Attack some hate back to the PLD. Bunch of JP players in the shell going crazy lol.
