So I found this on when beta testing 3 phase will start and aperently everyone is up in an uproar about it. I do believe this buts back the time line and makes me question a true release? Disappointing I'm very hyped to play this again when released.

It pushes back phase 3 by about 2 weeks. That's not that bad. I'm not sure why anyone would think the sky is falling, just because they need a little more time to get phase 3 started. I'm sure they want the PS3 beta to go well, and thats prolly what the delay is for.

Well it IS the Internet..

Never underestimate the Internet's capacity for hyperbole.

The only answer worth giving is, "It will be ready when it's ready."

As for the "uproar," this game has quite a loyal following of trolls. In addition to the regular forum trolls, there are also many players who still probably feel personally offended by the poor quality of version 1.0.

Most people are in favor of delaying the game's hypothetical launch date (especially a slight delay such as this) in order to get things done right.

This is just one of these things Square won't win either way. The PS3 version hasn't been beta tested on any scale it takes for a MMO yet other than internally (which as anyone who plays a MMO knows a lotta bugs go unnoticed or slip past on smaller scale testing. I'm sure they are still working out the PS3 version. If they brought it out "on time" by their schedule people would cry about the bugs in the client. If they take a lil more time to hash a few things out people will cry about that too. Square is on a very slippery slope and they are quite aware of that fact. Count ourselves fortunate it is just 1-2 weeks (if it's even true). Personally I'm glad they are taking another week or so. Time isn't on their side lets face it. If it's not out by summer a lot of people will move on. But I applaud Square for taking what time they have left to get ARR out the door and try to get it functioning. Trolls aside I don't think anyone wants to see Square fail. Specially since they have been getting huge doses of humility lately and realizing the consumer is what keeps them going.

No, but they did give us a time line that the majority of people her have been more or less formulating and expecting.

I understand taking your time and making sure everything is a 100%, But In the real world small delays add up to big delays.

Don't get me wrong the further into summer the better for me "kids will be getting back to school more time for me to play"

There's a lot of "talk" that this might be because of the ps3 and as much as I want to play it on a console I've stated many times I would rather see it launch on the ps4 holiday season then a ps3 slash and hack piece of work that "might delay a seemingly very good game"

Honestly I just can't imagine why anyone would be impatient for the game at this point. After the initial release, my attitude is that they should please take as much time as they need. Take two more years, if you want. Whatever you have to in order to get it right.

Absolutely. That's a mistake they can't afford to make twice.

Let's not get hasty here! 2 years would hurt my soul haha (and probably their fanbase). But yes no rush at this point.

Trust me, I know all about IT project development and delays at this point. (My team was one of two who delivered a working project kind of sort of on schedule, and even then our client kept springing last minute requests and modifications on us. Since I was the one doing the training materials, that meant I had to screen cap the entire website three times and do 30 minutes of training videos 3-4 times to accommodate the changes.)

The timeline was rough and never set in stone. Two weeks "delay", for something that they can't really control (Sony's slow *** approval process), is nothing. (Apple sometimes makes a developer wait a year to get approval to roll out in the App Store. Just because they can.) Two months would have been within the realm of acceptability, although it would suck ***. Four months would be where I'd start to consider it a genuine and serious delay.

If you actually bother to read the roadmap and if you take the max value for each phase and the periods in between, the beta won't be ending until July 8th. So far they haven't deviated much if at all from what they mapped out.

Phase 3 is open to everyone, correct? And phase 3 characters transfer over when the game goes live?
Do we know what transfers? Just names and likeness or completed quests, money, and levels attained?
#19 Apr 29 2013 at 6:32 PM Rating: Good
Phase 4 transfers over to launch.

Yeah all phase 3 progress will be wiped. New characters wipe and preexisting characters go back to prebeta standing.

That's Phase 4.

Phase 3 is supposed to be open to everyone with an FFXIV service account (whatever that means). Phase 4 is open to the unwashed masses.

Well I sure am glad I stopped following the game like I was or I might have been upset by this. Now if only the Skyrim Legendary Edition release wasn't a month away as well...

From what I have seen there are more than a few of the "unwashed" in the beta "test" already.
