Character slotsFollow

Hey guys,

As i have already stated in other threads i am a total noob when it comes to FF XI and XIV so i am trying to collect as much info as i can to be "prepared" for ARR when it comes out. So i was browsing the net today and i saw this character slots thing for XIV and XI and honestly its the first time i saw that.

Sorry if someone asked this before (didn't find it in the forum search) but will we again in ARR need to pay extra money for extra character slot other than the first one?

While i understand that the way the game is made isn't needed to make many characters it still not quite good in my eyes. I mean even if i can see all the jobs in one character as I've read i still would like to make a different character even just for the different race.Why would SE make something like this in the first place?

Anyway while its not a big deal it still doesn't seem right to me, i guess probably cause of the previous MMO's i've played that they did have restricted character slots but the minimum i saw was like 3 and even then i didn't have to pay extra for them, or to pay to get extra slots.

So if anyone knows if there is still that 1 slot restriction would be nice to know, thank you.

Ah nice thanks for the info!! Really helpful. While i still believe its wrong to have 1 slot per server i can't say anything since at least i can make more in different servers. Although at some point later i may consider taking the standard since the difference from the entry fee isn't big, but at the start i won't be needing it.

Like this old thread, you are relying on old information. The old pricing plan from 2010 was going to charge $3 per month per extra character. That's all out the window for ARR.

There's actually 5 different plans, now. Legacy was a limited time offer for those paying for at least 3 months of FFXIV in 2012. It looks like that won't be offered to anyone else anymore.

The other 4 plans are:
1. Entry plan, $12.99 per month for 1 character per world, 8 characters max.
2. Standard month-to-month plan, $14.99 per month for 8 characters per world, 40 characters max.
3. Standard trimonthly plan, $13.99 per month (pay in 3 month blocks) for 8 characters per world, 40 characters max.
4. Standard semiannual plan, $12.99 per month (pay in 6 month blocks) for 8 characters per world, 40 characters max.
