A couple of things about Inscription in Cata have been bothering me since day 1, Since no one has commented up to this point on these two issues (that I am aware of) I am going to stick my oar in the water and see what happens.
1) Cata Darkmoon Cards Rare Ink Cost - I decided early on that the time required to collect enough ink to make these cards would preclude me from doing much more than herbing and playing just one character. That's not fun imo and to date I haven't made one Cata card. The 6 Snowfall ink for the LK card was a tad too much but 10 Inferno for the Cata one is just plain stupid. Then again YMMV.
2) The Ink Trader - This only exists for the highest level of content, effectively removing lower level card crafting from the game. By the time you have enough rare inks to make a pre cata trinket you will have been level 85 for a couple of months. Again I think this less than praiseworthy, but as before, YMMV.

Well I don't know, I made a ton of DM cards prior to hitting the cap. Though I suppose, not many complete decks.
Mostly it was buying the herbs needed to make a bunch of cards, saving them over the couple of a couple of weeks, and then buying the ones I didn't have and selling the ones I had extras of. But really it was one of those things you had to plan ahead for, and wasn't really worth the effort. The lower level cards do sell for a sizable profit on my server though, so I tend to make a lot of them (was better when we had a bigger lvl70 twink community, that ninja who stole the ashes really hunt my business
).
As for the cata cards, I gave up on those myself. There just isn't the market for them on my server, and I can't reliably sell them for more than the cost of mats. I suppose though, that they're a little out of data ilvl-wise by this point. Inferno Ink does sell decent though.

I don't know about cost vs. profit, but on my server the decks and the cards themselves still sell for quite a bit. Except for the tanking card. That one sells for around 3k tops. The other three are still in the 8k range.
Yeah we are at about 6k-ish for the others on average; they range from 5k-8k. 6k is 750g a card. The volatiles cost about 450g on average, and the ink would retail around 200g. That leaves me with an average net of about 100g a card, or 800g on a deck.
It's close enough, and the market volatile (punslol
) enough I haven't bothered to make them for a while. Especially when I could dump the ink for a quick, and much more reliable, 200g net.
