Is it just me, or is getting only one token a day a little bit of a stretch. There are 130+ designs you get with these tokens, and the cheapest ones are 3, some of them costing up to 6 tokens. Only getting one token a day, or if you are rich, you can blow all your gold on Titanium and Titanium Powder to turn in for a few extra tokens, seems like a bit of a stretch to me. With almost 140 designs costing at least 3 tokens...that is over 1 year of doing dailies just to get the designs.

Am I alone in thinking they need to up the amount of tokens you get, or make it so you can buy tokens with something other than titanium powder, like using a conquest emblem to buy a token, or even something like honor to buy a token? There needs to be some other way to obtain them so people who have a Jewelcrafter just hitting 80 doesn't have to freak out trying to catch up to people who can actually cut decent gems by now.

I bring this up because my Shaman is my jewelcrafter, and just recently hit 80. I was doing the Jewelcrafting daily from the first day I found it, at level 78, to now...about 3 weeks into 80, and I'm so far behind in designs I don't know if I'll ever be able to catch up to those who's original character was a Jewelcrafter.

Don't forget the PvP-oriented cuts that you buy with Stone Keeper Shards.

And the world drops.

And the patterns that drop from heroic bosses.

I didn't count those because stone keeper shards are ALOT easier to get than Dalaran Jewelcrafter's Token. I have 200+ stone keeper shards already just from doing WG about 5 times and running heroics with Wintergrasp in effect.

The point is to pick and choose. Don't just go down the list, like you'd do with cooking.

Think about you are buying. Is it in demand? How many others will sell this gem? Will I get any personal use out of this necklace, or would I only sell it? Will I start an alt that would want that?

Etc.

They don't want you to have all the recipes fast (actually, they probably doubt many players will get them all at all).

It's kinda like discovery. Since what you get can be really good, they want to space it out.

There's also the cuts bought with honor in SW/Org(?).

Plus, the Titanium Powder from prospecting Titanium Ore.

OR...

and this is a neat thought...

perhaps Blizzard followed through with their intention to make it exceedingly difficult to have every pattern for certain professions.

Inscription and JC are two of those. It would cost a small fortune in books to get every inscription pattern, and as so eloquently pointed out, it would take a very long time/substantial amount of gold to get every JC pattern.

So no, they don't need to up the number of tokens gained from each daily because that would serve a purpose contrary to what they announced before 3.0 went live.

I personally wish it took a lot more tokens to get each new cut. Right now, there are way too many people that have all of them. I guess it's good for the buyers though.

Yeah, I don't have a problem with it being hard to get them all.

Personally, I'll nab the ones that I'd use for myself first (Stam/Armor Meta, Stam, Defense, maybe some Stam/Dodge ones for those socket bonuses that are actually worth it, Nightmare Tear).

After that, I'd either go for the ones that my DpS spec would want (Strength, Hit, Expertise) or what my new Mage would use in the 60s when he hits OL and gets sockets (SP, maybe Haste).

After those, and any items plans I want, are done, I'll just start buying ones I think people might want. I don't really use my JC to make cash (or, I haven't yet started to, have 9 more days of Icy Prisms until cap), so it wouldn't be a huge issue for me.

*shrugs*

Look at the bright side - if you *have* to buy every recipe, even the ones you dont want/will never use, at least it gives you something to do and an excuse to keep doing the daily.

Also, if mem serves, can't you also buy tokens with the titanium dust?
#10 Dec 08 2009 at 11:45 PM Rating: Good
Yeah, 10 titanium dust per token, pretty hefty price tag!

Yeah, 10 Titanium Powder = 1 token. So far I have gotten 4 Powder and I've broken apart 35 Titanium. I don't know if its just bad luck on my part, or Titanium really doesn't give much powder, but I seen someone the other day selling Powder for 50g per Powder, and people were buying it. Its never listed on the AH, so I assume that either my server economy is screwed, or it is beyond expensive to even try to use titanium powder to get a token.
