Oh yeah, it's time to flame me. Well I'm not sure what made me appear on this website all of a sudden but here we go.
I noticed there's a crap load of rants and flames. In all honesty, do people really need to see this? No, not really. I'm probably being a hypocrite saying this since I'm ranting myself...but do people find it entertaining to just throw dirt on some person's name just because they dislike them? I mean, hey... this online game is great and very addicting. It's a way to socialize and meet people too. You meet some cool people and you meet the people you got your beef with. What do you do when you meet somebody you like? "Oh man, this person is real chill and cool I think I'll get to know them more" If that's your thing go right ahead, there's nothing wrong with that.
Then... you have the people you got beef with. What do a lot of people in game do about that? Well, some USED to MPK and such but since SquareEnix has fixed that problem...no more MPK! What else is a possibility ? For one thing, some people come to a website such as this and *****. Ah yes, ******** is something humans almost always do. Complain.
I'm not saying you can't complain. Go right ahead. People have their anger and frustrations, they must vent it. That's just being human for ya! But some rants and vents just go too far. In some cases, a person ends up degrading another. Sometimes, a person tries to persuade others that "HEY SO AND SO IS GOOD FOR NOTHING" etc ...Come on, it's a game. I know I can't stop you from disliking someone, you can keep your beef. There's ways to get around it though, besides smudging their name.
Here's one recent case that many may see in game. You're in an EXP PT and somebody just isn't playing to your standards. Politely, you and the rest of the party agree and suggest to this person that they should accomplish THIS task THIS certain way. However, they continue to be "horrible" according to you. So what do you do? Hmmm, well you can say that your game experience with this person was not a pleasant one and that you'd rather not be around that person if the topic comes up. Everybody has their opinion, their likes and dislikes. AVOID him/her any way possible if need be. Just don't hurt their reputation. Don't party with them? Blacklist maybe? I'm sure there's more than 2000 people on this server. Pick somebody that makes your gameplay more enjoyable. Don't argue with others and make them agree with your opinion. Because you know what, some people just might like the way THAT person plays. Leave it at that.
Everyone has their style, you can't change that. Sometimes different styles clash and just don't mingle. You know, if you can't accept your differences just avoid each other. Don't publicize your problems, simply stay away. Think about it, if you make your problem public in these forums, you'll start some huge and (no offense) dumb arguement. Hence the flame wars that pop up in Ragnarok forums quite frequently.
And I also know some people have their personal problems with each other in game as well. You know what? This may sound harsh but what differnce does it make if you tell the entire server that SO and SO did THIS to you? If he/she acts really effed up then just tell yourself "You know what, I have no respect for this person" and stop associating with them. If somebody really hurt you then you know what? They're not worth your time. As long as you know what type of person you are, just let these haters hate harder. If somebody continues to be immature towards you, then just know this: They're making a fool of themselves doing this.
At one point all of us will come to an end of the game. We'll stop playing. These people we dislike... we're never going to see them in the real world. You have the people that are just plain out messed up. Hacking, stealing, cheating, etc. But realize this, as long as it doesn't hurt you in real life don't think anything of it. If it ends up that some real effed up shiz happens, then hey this game just isn't worth it. If people will stoop that low just forget it. It just isn't worth it killing yourself over a game.
This is my opinion of how to handle these in game situations. If these certain problems occur to me, I'd express it this way. Not thinking anything of it. I'll have my angry moments but in time I'll let it slide. I won't care anymore. Why create un-needed drama? But hey, I'm just a kid. What do I know?
So...
All I ask, Ragnarok, just please be more positive. There's seriously too much drama over FFXI. You got peeps chilling and eating popcorn watching all of it go by. That's just not the way to be. Keep it real.
In fact here's a positive start. In dedication to those who keep it real, thank you. You know who you are. You made this game enjoyable for me. Had fun times and fun conversations. It was great getting to know you, helping you, etc. So here's to you...my thanks.
