It's a video game, granted, but if it's something so minimal and trivial to you then why would you spend your hard earned money on this video game that people shouldn't give a "rat's ***" about?
When I was in middle school and Ocarina of Time came out, a friend of mine purchased it and couldn't get passed the first dungeon and paid me to do so. By the end of the month he had paid me fifty dollars in total to beat the entire game for him, ten dollars less than the game originally set him back, and I'm quite certain he never touched it afterward. Where is the fun in this logic? I can say without a doubt that one of the most rewarding experiences in this game is working hard to save up for an item and finally being able to purchase it. I don't know what level you are, but to anyone else, do you remember that feeling you got when you made your first 10,000 gil? Your first 100,000 gil? Your first 1,000,000 gil? I can't imagine how rewarding it can possibly be to need several million gil and have it the next day you wake up. And why stop there? Why not just pay someone to level up for you, to do your missions and quests for you? That way you'll never have to really earn anything in the game, you'll just log on one day and be Level 75 with all of this gear you have no right owning and partying and adventuring with people you don't even know.
No one here enjoys having to amass large amounts of gil, but it's part of the game and it's what makes a lot of it rewarding, being able to look back and say you did this all on your own. I know nothing in this thread is going to change your mind about anything, but I hope some things said here at least get the message across to a few people who might have thought otherwise.
