An ethnically diverse people residing on the eastern part of the Iberian Peninsula, Spanish people comprise a moderately successful region of the European community. Tracing architectural and cultural roots to the Muslim Moors (no, not the Moops) of Africa, the area is predominantly (and in its past, oppressively) Catholic. The primary language is, obviously, Spanish, with many children learning English and other foreign languages during their schooling. The currency was the peseta, but at the moment, España adheres to the current Euro for monetary exchanges. The government is parliamentary in nature, spearheaded by PM Zapatero (who I've always said looks like Mr. Bean).
Spanish people of note include: Christopher Columbus (Cristobal Colón), Felipe II, Fernando e Isabel, El Cid (Cid whaomginternets!~), and Francisco Franco Bahamonde.
