I've never /blisted anyone...Follow

I've been working on growing the elemental ores. Probably about 7-8 months ago, I started one Sapling (which I grew from some cuttings myself^^) and a month later, I had myself a Dark Ore (beginners luck). In the months time, I started another 19 plants, and I got about 5-6 Dark ores all together. The intention of this, was to have them made into beads, so Grommet could make signed Dark Staves. But I don't think Grom was ready to make them then, and my buddy had bought me a Dark staff, so I greadily sold them all.

Then I moved onto Water Ore. In total, I probably grew about 4-5 Water Ores; one of which, I did have made into a bead, and now have a Water Staff, signed by Grommet (also have a signed Light Staff, but I bought the bead for that one^^.)

During my Water Ore phase, a friend asked if I could get back to growing the Dark Ore, as he was going to be in need of a Dark Staff. So, as my Water Ore sapling where harvested, I started working on the Dark Ore again....

....so for the past 4-5 months I've been trying to grow the Dark Ore, and have had no luck. 20 plants at a time (staggered timing though), 40-60 saplings, not one damn Dark Ore (my friend had long since just bought a Dark Staff)...Until Sunday. I harvested 2 saplings, one gave me a stack and a half of Rock Salt, the other.....

Dark Ore/hurray.

So, today (Monday 8/15/05,) I do a /sh in Lower Jeuno.../sh 87+ <goldsmithing> <can I have it?>
Owa responds "I have 94 <goldsmithing>

I tell my story
he says there will be an investigation, but that he can not return my item (expected)

I've never /blisted anyone, and to the best of my knowledge, I'm not on anyones /blist...I always try to play nice with others, and when I do have a problem, I try to handle it with tact. But all day I've been thinking of what Grom would say....

What the Frick!!!!

I don't plan on adding him to my /blist (though that would make him the first one), I want to know when he's around. I was even thinking of putting this in the "Help needed" section, to find some people to help MPK his a$$, but I guess a lesson was learned.

Ask for collateral when exchanging items for synthesis from someone you don't know.

Just checked the AH...Owa sold my Dark Ore for 280k on 8/15/2005 at 2:36PM (EST)

{I'm sorry.} {That's too bad.} Though, I can't say I'm {/surprised} by the lack of civility and manners some players have. Did chu at least take screen caps of the churansaction and then take caps of the AH sale? That's what I would've done (firstly, I doubt I would trade items that exceed 50k to someone I don't know) had it been me. At least that way you'd have proof of the duplicitious act. Good luck with that.

It wouldn't matter if Upi took screenshots or not, GMs won't accept them.

I'm sorry that that had to happen to you x.x It's pretty sad that we can't even trust crafters anymore :/ SE needs to implement something so that if we /check a person we can see what craft levels they are, that way no one can lie and say they can do something they can't just to scam someone.

Even though the GM won't give you the item back... I truly hope that they get that guy somehow. Take away the money he made and suspend his account. From what I've seen they do take actions against someone who breaks a verbal contract nowadays.

Nope, no proof that he has ever crafted anything in his life; I guess I'm just to trusting. I agree with you MnementhRag, we should be able to check someones crafting levels, could be right under "Check Bazaar," another button "Check Crafting Levels." The crafter could have the option to turn it on and off. As for screen shots, I play on PS2, so I can't take those kinds of pictures.

Thanks everyone

Well, to show my crafting level, I have Elriche (my kinda mule Goldsmith) wear signed stuff, like now he's wearing Silver hairpin, Mythril Earring and Mythril Ring :D If you don't trust the guy, ask him if he can show signed stuff..? Maybe it'd be safer..

Sucks that something like that happened to you, but at least you learned a lesson. Always check a crafter's credibility. Most high-level crafters are able to show you a signed piece of high level gear, or at least an apron to prove that they're of moderate level.

Chrysta is a very reputable goldsmith if you need any synths in the future; my LS uses her services all the time.

Sucks to hear that... some people are just despicable (but glad someone was nice enough to hook you up with an ore)

Good idea for the next time you'd need something pricey crafted is maybe post or have a look around the tradeskill forums, people generally know who's reputable or not and can refer you to someone who can help (or do it themselves, if possible)

Rate up for proper usage of the word "duplicitous" (even though it's misspelled). ^_^

Glad it worked out for you. I had a friend recently run into a similar problem of being too trusting and lost his hauby. I been trying to get a few other smns to do a ks30 run with me in hopes that the ore will drop so we can get him another one made. I don't think he'll have any luck farming for another...
