By them not accepting the pics you have just makes it seem like they're lazy fatasses that don't wanna waste any more time on the case.

Hmm, I'm gonna go against the grain of this thread and say I can't actually see what the GM did wrong. Quite simply he called you out on your actions.

You took matters into your own hands and the GM very patiently explained why you shouldn't have. He explained to you that you had no actual proof, that basically you made leaps in your reasoning to draw a conclusion and then decided to break the ToS by MPK'ing them.

He told you that the proper method would have been to call a GM, place a report then leave it in their hands. Instead you actually wasted the GM's time because he had to deal with 2 more people now, time that might have been spent investigating the issue of botters perhaps?

I'm also confused - if this was a noble attempt at ridding the game of botters what was with the extortion? The way I read it was that you demanded money to not MPK these people, the GM pointed this out to you and you agreed you had done this. It's simple really...

Botters = Gilsellers = MPKers

All as bad for the game, all break the ToS.

Next time, get a blm job of like 30 something, have someone with you to heal you, then bind the gob near them and run(after getting hp to a low place. The gob will then unbind, after you've the left it's vicinity and agro the bots. GMs can't prove it wasn't an accident, botter can't prove it was either(since GMs don't accept screenshots).

It could work >.>

BTW, GMs do read these forums lol. You know that GM that "Stole" 1.9 mil from someone on another server? He got me out from under a floorboard I fell through, I asked him about it, and he said he uses the forums like a newspaper. So yeh, oh - and the circumstances that occurred with that 1.9 mil really were more htne what was in the screenshots.

I would have sent the GM call.. and then mpk'd them, whiling saying nothing about mpking, and making sure nobody else does. Then when i'm put in jail and asked if I had any proof that they were bots and getting lectured like you did I would have said. "Wait a second.. Do you have any proof that I mpk'd? How do you know I was not releaseing an enemy so it could heal HP?"

"You know I mpk'd, but you can't prove it, and I know they are bots but they can't prove it, so I request that those bots are removed immediantly or that I am not punished for any actions I did, or did not commit."

I'm a LITTLE less cynical than you are, but only a little. Here's my one experience with reporting a botter. Unsuccessful, but I came away from it feeling I ALMOST got the guy nailed; he just lucked out by HAPPENING to return to his keyboard after I placed the call.

I was fishing Sea Serpent Grotto. Now the remote location of SSG, coupled with the relatively high level of mobs there, means that botting is rarely seen there, and almost never by low-level mules. But it is certainly possible to "bot" using a well established character.

One fisher soon began having to "regretfully throw away" stackable fish (Nebimonites, Bastore Breams), after fish, after fish. This went on for five minutes. I knew he was botting, partly for this reason, and partly because e wasn't catching ANY mobs or non-stackable fish (which bots can be programmed to release, based on the "!!!" triple-exclamation message one receives upon hooking one).

I called a GM. During my 5-minute wait for one to respond, guess what happened? Our little botter returned to his keyboard and began fishing honestly. How do I know? Because he stopped throwing away valuable fish, first, and second because he began catching non-stackable fish for the first time in half an hour.

Then the GM came on. I told him I had screenshots of the activity, and the GM basically told me straight-up that, barring a confession in open chat or the like, the GM must "catch them in the act."

Which, in this case, he almost did.

"Do not report these players again."

So if the GM hasnt convicted them it means they arent botting...?

Two lessons you should learn from this;

1. GM's are useless.

2. dont bother a GM and a GM wont bother you. They like getting payed to do nothing, if you interupt them and make them take out their dictionaries they will punish you!

Well.. I just about got mpk'd..

Claimed a NM in SSG, and get a link.. killing the link while fighting thf NM and I'm wining..

But nooo Shoki doesn't like this and decides to steal from my link, so it's still attacking me and I can't do a damn thing about it. I PD warp while calling for help on the NM so he doesn't get anything..

Someone please tell me this isn't a gil seller so I can make his life hell...

on my RL friends server one of the top NA hnmls's went up to sky and mpk'd the gil seller ls nonstop for 19 hours or so...delvld them from 75 to 71, and the whole ls got thrown into jail - stupid thign was even those that didnt participate in the mpk'ing, some whom were exping - also got thrown into jail....pretty weak

furthremore, just grab a train of gobs, run up to them, and as thief, perfect dodge alt tab, and come back on in 5 mins and see em all dead. when and IF a GM contacts you, just tell them you have a bad connection and that you got DCed when you were training gobs to AoE ws them all, it just happened to be bad luck you were looking for gobs at that "specific area" adn that :specific time"...

You guys forget one important thing... Botters still = monthly subscriptions to square-enix. Unless their numbers runners can prove that aggressively ridding botters will bring more people back and spending money, it will never happen in a million years. It's all about the cha-ching.
