Sounds like what happened to me the other night. I got an invite shortly after putting the flag up and after waiting an hour or so for them to fill the party we finally head off to camp. It's a good 15-20 min trip from Jueno and when we finally do get to camp and start killing things, it had a lot of promise. One person even levelled within a few min. Then they dc'd and 2 or 3 more said they had to go. So back to Jueno I go and do a quick /sea and sea that quite a few people are looking. So I grab the blm from the party that just broke and we start to form a new one. Within 10 min. I had a blm, nin, rdm, rng, thf and smn party going. The party started around 10 or 11 eastern and lasted well into 5am the next morning bringing me almost to 73. The two members that did have to leave gave plenty of warning so we were able to find replacements for them and keep going.

I was actually quite suprised at the number of people lfp when so many jobs were looking and there were enough to build a few good parties.

Wow, sorry but reading the original post... if you think an hour is a long time to wait for PT, you're not gonna like life past Lv50. Although on the other hand, Paladin and Red Mage get invites pretty steadily still compared to a lot of other jobs. I understand you wanna do what you wanna do, when you want to do it, but unfortunately FFXI does not work this way, unless as others have suggested you rigorously form your own parties. If you don't want to do that, or can't because of a lack of players seeking, seriously go do something else WHILE you LFP. Don't craft instead of seeking, craft while you're seeking. You'll get some skillups or make some money and that hour will fly by, then you might get a PT invite which you can accept if you like.

Understand though, the higher you get typically the fewer players there are in your level range. Not always true now, but I do think seek time gets longer in the 60s and 70s. If you really must have instant gratification, I'll go ahead and say that in a lot of ways, FFXI will disappoint you in that regard.

Its actually the opposite. You dont get invites at all from 25-50 or so. from 60+ there are alot of players.

As i said before I lfp for 2 weeks as 45 blm with no invites. Couldnt even make pts cause no healers or tanks or anyone else for that matter.

On the weekend i went to lvl my 63 whm. The amount of people this lvl is just unbelievable. There were 7 pt in boyada, 5 pts in den or rancor, 5 pts in valley of sorrows, 3 pts in gustav, and some other camps.

Basically every known camp for that lvl was completely packed and took us 2.5 hours just to find somewhere to lvl.

I agree with shuffles, some days invites are like instant, and other days you will have to sit there for hours waiting. But do other stuff that you can solo and still keep your flag up, also carry round a warp club or scroll so u can get back to jueno fast and get where u need to go fast.

I swear since I hit 70, I can sometimes go days lfp and trying to build with no luck. It's not like with smn they are ever really instant anyway, but the higher I get, the harder it seems to be. I keep teasing with a friend that it's the evoker's ring cursing me, because ever since I got it, the invites seem to be harder to get. When I was running around collecting items for it, I was getting invites non stop when I couldn't take them.

I think the truth is every job has a level range where they just end up waiting and waiting for parties. The only exceptions to that may be rng and brd. And even then, sometimes you'll see a level range overrun with those jobs because everyone thinks oh, insta invite and then floods that level range and can't get an inivte.

I've been getting creative with experience as of late. I've went into level cap areas to help farm, I've done enms, I've farmed on easy prey, once I did some ecco warrior quests so I could get experience on a job I hated leveling and I'll probably start the escort quests soon.
