Just be careful and take a few higher levels in with you. We had my static minus the pld and took a 71 pld with us... we are all 62-63 level range and still had trouble...make sure you bring lots of sneaks and powders.

last time I tryed with a pt with a level 75 SMN and a level 75 DRK, no probleme to get to the shadow lord but he killed us two times :-(

You need a PLD65+ (Nin would have issues with shadows lost on AOE..) and a RDM or BLM 65+ too. Other members in pt 60+
Just plan some good skillchain before the fight, and 4-5 Hi-Potions for each players since AOE can really hurts and it'd be helpful for mages if they can focus a little more on nuking, and little less on curing..
Another tip, when Shadow Lord turn invincible to melee dmg, STOP hitting him or you will give him tp.

ppfftt, he's a big *** wimp!!! I tanked this guys twice for my friends as 61 and 62 NIN.. and no his AOE attatck doesnt remove shadows... Nin is better to tank this guy than PLD.. He's Slow as hell... just remind your blm dont nuke to early.only nuke when melee start to hit 0. and melee's save Tp on 1st form.. and go all out on 2nd form (aka after the cut).. and as 2nd form WHM curaga and RDM cure whoeva in need.. and BLM start to nuke...:) you shuold beat him :) As I said i tanked him couple times.. and he didnt even touch me the entire 1st formXD.. only 2nd form when he start to use all AOE attack:)
Also if your blm is nuking away on the first form, the last little bit the melee's start hitting again have the blm rest because once his AOE starts from his second form you can't rest because it is an entire room AOE.

i did it tonight easily with:
58 nin/war
59 sam/war
59 rng/nin
59 rdm/blm
59 blm/whm
61 whm/smn
You really dont have to look for 70+ people
One word of advice, when you get to the teleporter stage, ALWAYS have invis on as i somehow didnt get teleported with the others and got set upon by a demon when my invis dropped ><
better safe than sorry

He's really not that hard... Mind you he was meant to be defeated by a full level 60 pt (the orginal level cap). I did this last week, I think it was 58rng 58pld 62drg 59blm 61rdm 67whm(me). No trouble all, hexa strike even did 507 dmg.
If you need a healer give me a /tell in game, I always enjoy killing the SL.

Got lucky when I did this. Had a lvl 75 RDM help us. once he started his constant AoEs they told us to run up the stairs... They soloed him from their.

Yep, being a member of that group i can safely say that we had no problems at all taking him down, it was actually kind of disappointing as i had worked myself up for a bigger fight, but nevermind.
Just be sure to save some big hits for his AoE stage, EES and slug shot took him down a very sizeable chunk.
I would certainly say a balanced pt of 58-60 will have no problem, but having one person knowing the route to the Shadow lord would be of benefit.

I think by now its a given fact that one of us will die when we quest together, but for once this had nothing to do with me :) , was unlucky though.
I'm game for this. Working 'til 9:30pm EST on wednesday friday and 4:30pm EST on sunday. That's this week. Next week I'm available after classes everyday then working saturday 9am-6pm EST.
