I was leveling in Kuftal Tunnel the other day and as usual Logitech and his entire crew were there camping Amemet. However, there was a 75 bst, and a 75 rdm also camping. They proceeded to claim Amemet when it spawned and I think, though I cannot confirm, MPK logitech and his crew. Whether those two did it or not I caught a lovely screenshot of the death.

hpc is not is this shot he's dead over to the left a bit. Anyway, hpc went back to his hp and then raise II'd the rest of them. However, the next two times Amemet spawned, and yes my party was still there being 8 hours long, another party consisting of a 75 drk, 75 whm, and 75 something else claimed Amemt both times.

At first I was quite happy with this development, after all Gil Sellers were ruining the game, right? However two things happened that make me think. First, hpc offered a Raise II after our tank died, even though we had rather blatantly made fun of their own deaths. In addition, after the 3rd Amemet claim that they missed, the pld walked up and ask the drk "Fell good?" It seemed rather sincere to me and made me begin to question is gil sellers were really all the bad down inside.

Yeah, they are not all that bad. I think most of us have to admit when it comes to camping a NM, that we are not the friendliest. I have talked to some JPN players, and even they say, when it comes to a NM, there are no favors. However cheating by claiming an already claimed NM, and trying to bring mobs to kill other campers will always be wrong, and punishable by GM.

I personally do not think logitech is that bad of a guy. Back in the day when he was only 45, and before the whole gil seller frenzy, I actually PTed with him to camp ochiudos kote. I left before anyone got it, but we were going to split the gil. I would imagine him holding his word. Not all gil sellers are evil, just something to keep in mind.

pwned :P

Though I wont be convinced of the generosity of *any* gilseller until they give up their "profession" and join a monastery.

We passed by there on our way to Cape Terrigan and saw them all dead too. I saw a ton of lizards and started looking for Amemet but didn't see it.

We had a WHM and he did not Raise II just because of their reputations. Still they aren't that bad of a group of people but here's my outlook on it.

FFXI is a game, not a job, any way you slice it. In helping a gil seller, you're helping something more akin to a rival company, regardless of the employees that work for it.

Still if I'm in a group camping something, and a rival claims it, I'm not going to assist them. Afterwards, however, I'll help them, or if they have a wipeout and we kill the thing after, I'll assist them in any way possible.

I guess gil sellers are like prostitutes. There "profession" is frowned upon but deep down there just good ppl trying to make a buck.

ya know what else is fun..

invising yourself in the boyahda area of zi'tah and stealing goobbues from gilsellers.. last night while my PT was waiting for our THF and NIN to arrive, the 4 of us who were there were doing that to all the "ls-" people [there were 8 of them]. for something so easy it gives me so much satisfaction..

logitech used to be a real person, i've partied with him before too, he sold his char tho, thats why he's now a gil seller.

I partied with HPC when she was just starting out as a WHM, and as logitech was just starting out as a DRG. These two are gil-sellers, through and through. Its very rare that you see one wihtout the other.

They actually managed to kill Amemit. After being horribly MPK'd by a group of people who trained 20+lizards, several crabs and one of those nasty lvl 70+ Tiger thingies...oh, and some cactaurs.

So they called for help.

Then they all got raised. While Amemit wandered around free as a bird, and managed to kill it after two more attempts by others to MPK their group.

To be honest...they earned that damn NM.

Now that doesn't mean I support gil sellers...but seriously you have to give them props for surviving that. Our MNK had fraps running. If he ever posts it I'll put the link up.

Hpc has to be the one gil seller that isn't so bad. She has raised some friends of mine on a few occasions without asking for anything in return. Not that i condone gil selling or buying but if they wanna spend all day long camping these NM's for money like work theres not much we can do about it. To be truthful you could steal the NM's away from them. Our LS was succesful stealing the stroper chyme from Bheh,Ellynid and thier crew a bunch of times (only got one archer ring though but still 580k). So if you want grab a group together and out camp these people wether they're gil sellers or not these are still free monsters up for grabs and they don't hold any advantages over any of us.

This sounds like something our linkshell did a little while ago as well... We did get one ring, but gave it to our DRK so he could sell it and get a Sniper's... <>Hmmm.<>

Yeah Bheh is not too fond of our ls either. Last night we camped for hours, she and her friends kept logging off because we got so many of the pulls. No drop unfortunately, but this is the second time our ls has given her a bad night, and we plan on doing it again and again until our friend gets his ring. I figure karma will drop it for us someday since we have 8 people there to help one person, not to sell it for the gil.
A tip for everyone out there - do not be intimidated by the gil sellers. They aren't that good. Just bring a few friends along and outnumber them. Our RDM got a ton of pulls just spamming Dia.

Ugh, it's so sad that this is such a dominating issue and that everyone's so happy. It's just a bummer. Sellers and buyers alike.
