Thor doesn't want to be a Trekkie. Chris Hemsworth reportedly passes up a role in the next Star Trek film.

I did like this part of one of the articles

Quote:
But, Paramount has also maybe been a little stingy with their numbers. According to THR, both Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth have walked away from negotiations due to a lack of sufficient cheddar. Paramount is like “hey these movies don’t make as much as you think” and they’re like “we’re both named Chris” and the two opposing viewpoints were not able to meet in the middle.

Nothing all that interesting for movies recently. I thought about trying to see Incredibles 2 last weekend since i'm stuck in a hotel again. But turns out it is no longer showing in the local theaters. A bit disappointed. Eight weeks I guess was pushing it. But estimated BluRay release dates aren't until October.

I saw Bad Samaritan on the new release rack today. But it was not a combo back. No digital copy included. So I passed. Always disappointed with distributors don't make digital bundles. Odd that I won't just buy digital copies on Vudu or anything though.

The lull in movie releases seems to lead to movies like "Meg" shining on the box office. Even though the trailers make it feel like little more than your usual Sci-Fi TV movie.

"We're both named Chris" is a great line. Christopher Robin was pretty good. Kind of sickeningly sweet as one would expect, though the last twenty minutes are a bit of a disappointment. Also the lack of Kenny Loggins music, real downer. Other than that, might be worth a watch.

Apparently Tom Holland messed up again when he made a video where his stuntman was in the background soaking wet, leading people to believe the rumors that Hydro-Man is in the sequel in some capacity.

Thought about Christopher Robin. Doesn't look like anything else is coming out this weekend. I'm not big on dog movies so I won't bother with Alpha.

Seems that Disenchantment is coming out this Friday on Netflix. Currently watching the recent season of Voltron, I think it came out last Friday?

And somehow it's Wednesday Night and I think I just remembered I missed AMCs shows on Sunday and Monday... at least I know now I can stream them on their website.

Looks like Disney CEO Alan Horn is standing by his decision to let James Gunn go, so that should make Guardians 3 news a little more interesting. Are they still going to use his script? Will Bautista return as Drax? Will the rest of the actors just phone it in? Apparently there's a picture of him dressed as a priest at a costume party surrounded by people dressed as little kids and all I can think was that it looked a lot like the last Halloween party I went to. Oh well.

Iron Fist: Season 2 official trailer is out. It's a trailer, so it looks neat. Still a bit wary considering season 1. I like how Davos' Shining Finger is a different color than Danny's. That's a nice touch.

There's a listing on Amazon for the latest Legion cover soundtrack.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GF2PN86/

Though, the "Change the World" cover... I listened to the version on the album.
https://screenrant.com/legion-soundtrack-change-the-world/

I think I like the version in the episode better. It sounds different somehow.

Not sure how long this will be up:

Ended up watching Christopher Robin. Cute, but very short. I laughed at more of the jokes than I thought I would. I question the ending's logic even if they gave all their employees the as of yet unheard of paid vacations... I doubt every single one of them buying a piece of their soon to be discounted luggage would offset the cost. Maybe employee pay is so significantly low in post WWI (? or was it II... I didn't catch it.) era UK. I liked it, and for 5.50 it wasn't a bad way to spend a Sunday morning. Probably would be more enjoyable with a kid though. The little ones in the theater seemed occupied by the movie more than some others I have gone to. They were all quiet and paying attention, vs the ones that were at the last Avengers movie which tended to be running around the aisles.

That's the reason I go to the early Thursday night showing. It has nothing to do with how impatient I am.

Preacher is nuts, just the way it should be. I wasn't sure I was going to like the series, and last season certainly wasn't that great, but this season has really gone back to the balls to the walls crazy. Also glad they're not really following the book, because if it were then most of the episodes would just be people sitting around talking for forty-five minutes. Exploding Allfather was nice, better than falling from a helicopter.

Episode title list for Gotham's next season all but subtly reveal a Bane related storyline.
Episode titles wrote:
Gotham – Episode 5.01 – Year Zero
Gotham – Episode 5.02 – Trespassers
Gotham – Episode 5.03 – Penguin, Our Hero
Gotham – Episode 5.04 – Ruin
Gotham – Episode 5.05 – Pena Dura
Gotham – Episode 5.06 – The Air is Getting Slippery
Gotham – Episode 5.07 – TBA
Gotham – Episode 5.08 – I Am Bane
It was also previously reported that the show will introduce Eduardo Dorrance, the father of Bane. Also some stray details thrown out are that Edward Nygma will be re-introduced naked, mumbling to himself in a library, and covered in tattooed riddles; Leslie Thompkins will undergo an unspecified "drastic change"; James Gordon will finally grow his trademark facial hair; and the supervillains Mother, Orphan, Man-Bat, Lady Shiva, and the Ventriloquist will play a role this season. This is supposed to be the last season, so I imagine it'll really push the envelope on what made the show good in the first place.

Word on the street is that Kevin Smith is writing a Hit-Girl movie where she goes after Hollywood sexual predators.

Because I'm slow I just realized that Iron Fist's next season is the same weekend as the Spider-Man PS4 game, September 7th.

Speaking of Netflix, Melissa Rosenberg, the showrunner on Jessica Jones, has confirmed that season 3 is on the way, and it's been confirmed that she's set to leave the series afterwards because she's struck a deal with Warner Bros Television. They outbid Netflix for her services in a deal said to be somewhere in the eight-figure range. After that edgelord Titans trailer I'd say she's got a challenge on her hands.

And speaking of Warner Bros, apparently they're making another show, this time based around Batman's butler called Pennyworth. It's already been revealed that Pennyworth will pick up with Alfred after he's left the S.A.S. and forms a "secret company" with Thomas Wayne but some audition videos reveal that he's actually a selfish young man who doesn't think too highly of the wealthy. He then has a conversation with an unknown character about kidnapping Wayne for an unknown, villainous organization and in return they will release a woman called Esme who appears to be Aflred's love interest.

Current Batman and apparent inside joke slash Easter Egg in the rumored Joker solo movie Ben Affleck seems to have checked himself into rehab for his alcoholism. As if the future of the DCEU wasn't uncertain enough, but at least he recognizes he needs and is seeking help.

Well, he's about hit his movie limit for playing batman in a film, right? Time to find a new actor anyway.

Not sure if I should check out The Innocents on Netflix. Trailer feels a bit familiar. Like it's been done before. I vaguely remember a series about people who could "awaken" themselves in their reincarnated bodies using things like trinkets from their past lives. And some secret organization group of them... but I remember loosing interest after the first season (or it was cancelled, either or, same result).

Netflix also totally gets me. Cause I got an email saying "We just added something you might like!" To All the Boys I Loved... or something like that. Ya Netflix. You understand my viewing habits and aren't just trying to push your "Originals" these days...

I've found myself watching random sitcoms that I normally wouldn't when ever I'm in hotels. And have been enjoying reruns of Goldbergs and Big Bang Theory a lot more than I figured I would. Not enough to actually attempt to watch them in order or binge them online somewhere. But enough that I'll leave my TV on Nick in the early AM and watch Goldbergs and TBS all afternoon and watch what ever they show.

Isn't that basically the plot of the Assassin's Creed games and/or movie?

Aquaman has apparently screened for people, who say that it's like a MCU Phase 1 movie. Which, you know sounds good as long as the Phase 1 movie is more The First Avenger and less Thor 1.

Maybe. Though don't they use a machine to have their future selves go back into a past life?

This show, I can't recall the name, I think we talked about it here over the years. Centers on a woman and her husband. The woman awakens as one of these people. She starts to like Jazz and such. Man starts hunting down the truth. I think there was a scene in the beginning where a teenage girl kills herself cause she couldn't handle the transition as her past life was being awoken. Some in fighting happened in the group, people would threaten to (or maybe did) destroy the items that they used to awaken the soul once they reached adulthood. Effectively "killing" the past life. Apparently anyone could do it, but this group kept it secret and only let those they felt worthy to continue.

Edit:
Just realized the actor who plays TC... he was the Bad Biker, Actually Good Guy, from Falling Skies.

On to recent... I didn't watch Preacher last night, and today turned on AMC's streaming service. Only to be greeted by a "You have to disable your adblocker to watch this!". Seems AMC updated their streaming service to detect and block ad blocking... Smiley: frown
Edit2:
WTF AMC? Ads are full HD Quality. Show itself is blocky low quality SHIT. Pixels about half an inch square on my screen...

Preacher: The Saint killing Satan and Hitler assuming power was a nice touch. Random Humperdinks still strolling about town too. Who was Cassidy's Angel-Torturer arriving in the pit supposed to be?

Heh, that's why I let Netflix run while I'm at work and just download a 720p or 1080p copy of the show/movie and watch when I can find a few minutes on my laptop. Netflix gets what they want, and I don't have to watch a slideshow made of 1980s jpgs while sitting at McDonalds.

Todd Phillips is really ramping up the list of A-List actors in his Joker movie. Along with Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker, we have Robert De Niro, Frances Conroy, Marc Maron, and Zazie Beetz. Now joining the cast is Alec Baldwin as Thomas Wayne. Which is about where any hope for the movie dies, as he's being described as "a cheesy and tanned businessman" - with a direct comparison drawn to a 1980s-era Donald Trump. I think I've found my line.

Doctor Who alum Matt Smith has signed on for an important but undisclosed role for the next Star Wars movie. No word if his eyebrows will be co-starring with him or continue to be missing in action.

Wile E Coyote, Super Genius, is getting a movie. Coyote vs Acme, and according to Variety it will be an animated movie produced by director Chris McKay with Jon and Josh Silberman (Always Sunny and Borderlandtown) to write the script. Sounds like a procedural like A Few Good Men, which I can't imagine it'll be an hour and a half of Wiley in court, but a dozen shorts tied together with the case being the framing device. Kind of like Daffy Duck's Fantastic Island or The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Movie, hopefully.

Though I doubt it.

It definitely is a "better as a whole" type thing. But I don't imagine fans of Simpsons and Futurama are looking for a 10 episode series that you need to watch the whole thing to enjoy.

At least it's a really short story. 5 hours or less total.

I did try to start watching The Innocents over the weekend and got distracted 15 minutes into the first episode.

I only really made it through one episode of Disenchantment. Why did the pessimistic elf 180 into super optimism basically the moment he left the village?

If anyone was super psyched to see Maverick take to the skies once again in Top Gun 2 then you'll have to wait, as the release date has changed from July 2019 to July 2020. Rumor has it that it's to avoid competition with Spider-Man's sequel and the live-action Lion King, but in 2020 it'd be competing with an unnamed Pixar movie, an unnamed by rumored to be Flash movie and an unnamed Fox/Marvel sequel.

DC is bringing their streaming service out sooner than expected. It'll go live September 15th, which is Batman Day. Not sure what the starting line up will be, but pretty sure it isn't Titans since that's still scheduled for October.

Mr Robot is ending with season 4. Shame, was a pretty good show.

Well, he was unhappy being stuck in elf world, making candy and getting cock-blocked, so I just assumed he was naively happy to be out and about.

They also go back to the village later in the season and then go all "Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time" on Elfo and it turns out he's not actually an Elf, just lived with them. His "father" goes to explain where he really came from but is interrupted by an attack on the Elf village. Leaving it open to not be explained before the series ends.

Or instead of Ocarina of Time... maybe Will Ferrel "Elf"... just without the normal sized Human Idiot.

Maybe they'll put all the DC Animated films up on the streaming service? Might actually be worth it then for some people if they haven't seen them already.

Edit:
Speaking of DC Animated films. Seems a new one is out, saw it on the new releases rack today. Freedom Fighters: The Ray. Appears to be the Earth-X Crossover episodes of the CW shows. Seems like... Justice League: Minorities. And I am imagining just as CW as the Crossover episodes were.

Well, he basically lost that character trait around episode 2 or 3 and simply became Fry's feelings for Leela as his sole personality. Also he isn't an elf. I would spoiler that, but it literally comes out of nowhere and isn't yet relevant to the "plot" so it's not like it even matters.

The last episode ends strongly, in that it's actually interesting and entertaining, except it's a cliffhanger ending that sets up season 2.

Well, it does explain why his blood wasn't working. And almost has to be central to season 2. But really the only people who are reading this thread either already watched the series or don't care enough to watch it anymore.

I thought the series got better after the 4th episode. Which ever one had Hansel and Gretel and The Crazy Cat Lady Skinner's Mom Witch. But that is like... nearing the half way point.

I think there was a missed opportunity on the voice of a certain griffin though.

It's not entirely surprising that he isn't an actual elf, considering the naming convention of everyone else (Worko, Weirdo, Kisso ...) and he's the one named Elfo.

Venom has a tie-in song by Eminem, who also just released an album last night with the song as well. Kamikaze, which also has a neat tribute to the Beastie Boys' License to Ill album. I just finished listening to the album, it's not bad. The Ringer is a pretty good song, and Venom (the song for the movie, obv) is decent. Can't imagine it really saving the movie.

But the unexpected part was the ending credits. Not sure how long this video will be up. Seems like it'd be copyright claimed soon.
