Aside from the setup, Log Horizon has very little in common with SAO. It'd be equivalent to throw Ixion Saga or .hack at him.
SAO takes place in an MMORPG that is entirely indistinguishable from a generic fantasy setting, and log horizon takes place in a fantasy setting that is indistinguishable from a generic MMORPG. I think that's basically what seals it for me. Log Horizon is the only one of the four that makes significant use of the MMORPG plot device. The other three are merely fantasy worlds painted up as a game. ...Also SAO is pretty terribly written, in the realm of katekayo hitman reborn levels of bad writing and not nearly as entertaining. It's been said before, but it really can't be said enough.
